you must stop here. There were three varieties available. The owner suggested we try the small purple ones. The two yellow are much larger. We bought two of each of the three varieties; they are all incredibly good.

We also sampled chutneys, jams, and 'sausage', which is vegan and made from figs. We bought two of those as well.

Small, but delightful.

This is a good short stop if you are a fig lover. Te Mata Figs have an interesting range of different fig varieties (in season) icecreams, spreads etc. They also sell their products at the weekly Hawkes Bay Farmers market.

We were taken here as part of a trip with Absolute de Tour - see separate review - and I have to say, having been on many tours with included 'stops', I was a bit dubious as to its likely value, but on this occasion was well wide of the mark!
A delightful owner who was passionate about his produce, was a delight to talk to, and better still, give me a quick lesson - alongside a fig tree of course! - on how and when to prune mine back in England.
The products for sale were fairly priced and we took a number, both for ourselves but also as 'presents' for friends back home as they were obviously going to be suitable for squeezing into an overly full suit-case!
Will worth a quick visit, but you may need to check on opening times if you are not with a 'local', as we were.

It's a small shop. You can taste the products for free and they are delicious and good value. You can buy about 5 different sorts of fresh figs. Great fig, orange and ginger Marmelade:-)
