Booked last minute for overnight stay with family including 2 teenage sons. Provided us 2 top class suites in annex which were top luxury. Boys ate takeaway from town and we ate from impressive 6 course hotel taster menu with wine. Rooms were massive with excellent beds and bathrooms. Walk round grounds before dark also allowed some fresh air after drive. Best hotel we stayed in all trip. Were looking for Hawkes Bay wines and first 2 on tasting menu were from US and France... minor gripe as quality very high.

With the early check in and late check out policy, we were sorry we did not have more time to make use of the lovely facilities and gardens at this hotel. We stayed in the Gamay room in a cottage away from the hotel. The outside entry was badly in need of paint and the entry carpet was very dirty, so we were astonished to see that our suite was immaculate. There was a large lounge with desk and TV, lots of comfortable seating, a great bedroom with an excellent king bed, and a very large ensuite with spa bath, enormous shower and 2 basins. We booked dinner and I will review the restaurant in a separate review. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the very small breakfast. I ordered the French toast with bananas and it was a small piece of bread with part of a banana. When I asked for some bacon, one piece of bacon was brought.

The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. There are acres of fruit trees surrounding the property, bicycles for your use, complimentary pickup from the Hastings airport. I would definitely like to return to this amazing venue!

Very spacious and good location. Only 15 minutes drive into Napier. This place is a perfect base to visit the wineries around hasting region. Quite enjoyed the secluded luxury the hotel has to offer. Highly recommend it.

We spent two nights here at the beginning of a road trip. We were the only guests and were upgraded, which was appreciated. Our suite was immaculate, and perfect for our needs. The location and grounds are stunning and the references to the properties history was appreciated. The staff were very attentive and the breakfasts wonderful. My only caveat is that whilst our bed had beautiful linen and large it was very hard, a nice topper would be a welcome addition.

We have just stayed for two nights and really enjoyed our stay. The suite (with four poster bed) was spotless and very spacious. Fruit and bottled water were there on arrival and homemade truffles every evening. The gym was small but well equipped with very good and sauna facilities.

We had the six course degustation menu each evening and the chef gave us a different menu each night. It was excellent. The sommelier was in a class of his own. The wine he presented was tremendous and it was the highlight of our stay.

We would definitely return

So glad that you enjoyed your stay with us - perhaps we'll persuade you to try the 9 or 12 course degustation option on your return? We'll look forward to seeing you again soon.
