“Great option for a stopover”
Reviewed 3 October 2013 via mobile

Traveling with a baby and dog and this caravan park is a great place to stop over. We stayed in the budget bungalows and they are a fantastic option. It has everything you need and is also dog friendly which is great. The park has a top notch camp kitchen (as well as a kitchenette in the bungalow) and a heated pool. Again we came across friendly staff which is always nice after a day of driving! Pity we are not staying longer to explore further!

We stayed on a powered site for 3 nights with our 2 kids. The park is lovely with a nice pool area & great views of the lake. The kids had a lovely time fishing from the boardwalk & spent hours in the playground & pool. The only thing that we weren't fans of was that you had to drive to everything, there's nothing in walking distance. Forster & Tuncurry are both close but you wouldn't walk to them & there's nothing on site apart from a little kiosk that does take away fish & chips (very nice though!). The beach in Forster was fabulous for the kids so we would prefer to have stayed over on that side. That said, the other parks don't seem to have the facilities that this 1 does so it's a catch 22. Overall a lovely stay.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us, jclarke23 and for taking the time to post your review on Trip Advisor. We are so glad to hear that your overall stay was enjoyable and that your family took advantage of the many facilities within the park. The boardwalk is quite unique and we are always pleased to hear that our younger guests young have experienced the fun of "wetting a line". We look forward to hosting your family again soon.

do not come if you have a younger dog ,children everywhere ride their bikes into your car ball into your tent and new owners are NOT dog freindly , they allow children to make all the noise up to 10.00pm at night but dont let your dog bark even if they throw a ball at your tent if your dog barks mananger gives you a serve does not explain to others to respect dogs They will bark if provoked , unless you have a extremly tolerant dog do NOT come here old owners were good these new owners are not. Had a ensuite even had to ask after 5 nights to be cleaned and get some toilet paper , the ensuites are not set up a the end of your site they are just in a clump in the middle of 6 sites really weird.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for taking the time to post a review Dorothy R. We pride ourselves on the provision of excellent customer service and strive towards continual improvement in everything we do. We were saddened to hear that your stay did not match your expectations.
Being the School Holidays there is a high volume of children enjoying the park. As long standing and experienced park operators we understand that children (and dogs) are unaware of their impact on other guests and so we will always endeavour to deliver the park rules in the least confrontational way possible. Please be assured that the comfort and enjoyement of all guests is our highest priority and we equally welcome travellers with pets and have done so for over 10 years
Our ensuite sites are serviced in accordance with industry standards and we supply a welcome pack of toilet paper, soaps etc in all ensuites on arrival.
We commit to take on board all of your comments as part of our continual improvement process and hope to see you and your dog return to Big4 Great Lakes Holiday Park in the future.

We had had a fabulous stay at the White Albatross Park in Nambucca Heads with the kids and were amazed by the absolute amazing position, superb waterfront location with the best coffees at the kiosk and cheap fish and chips. The friendly staff referred us to their other park at Tuncurry as the kids love to fish and we were told it was positioned directly on the lake and has a boardwalk and a heated pool (for me). We were blown away by the location as it is tucked away and not very easy to find. It has the best boardwalk and the kids sat and fished all day. We couldn't believe the fish cleaning table. There is more high garage stainless steel there than in my own kitchen and it has about six hoses! A hidden delight. Loved it but want to find out about that fish cleaning table. I want a bench like that at home. Will be back !

The Park seems to have changed to Big4 recently as it appeared in our 2012 Top Tourist Parks listing. Prices have increased with the change.
We took a Waterfront powered site at $45.00 per night, the most we paid on our recent month long road trip. It was good but we wouldn't stay again at these prices.
There was a very bright light right outside our site and it lit up the inside of our van incredibly. Certainly good for security.
We paid for a Waterfront Site but could have had a similar view from many of the other sites as the park was fairly empty.
The amenities are clean and well maintained as are the grounds and other facilities. Interesting that the BBQs require coin operation on top of the fees already paid. The Laundry was our most expensive at $5.00.
The outlook from the Waterfront powered site certainly is way better than the Ensuite sites ($50.00). The Ensuite sites are surrounded by permanent vans.
The location of the park requires you to get in the car to go to town, certainly not a short walk or bike ride.

Room Tip: Have a look at your site and surrounds, the location of the amenities, the night lights etc; before...

This park was in an absultely beautiful spot. We stayed in a lake front powered site in our caravan. The view to wake up to in the morning was just beautiful. This park would have made our top 10 parks of all time that we have stayed in with our caravan but...................... The local drunk with her dog knuckles that lives and works in the park paid 1 too many visits to our site. Actually 1 visit was too much as she spilt her scotch all over our campsite! I'm sure she was a lovely lady and all but we were holidaying with our children in a family park and quite frankly at 4pm in the afternoon when your trying to relax and soak up the atmosphere the last thing you want is the local drunk coming around making a mess of herself and putting on a show for the children with all her bits hanging out. Charming!!! The other down fall was a rather large group that partied very loudly until after 2am in the morning with music blaring and foul language streaming out loud and clear made it a rather unpleasant stay! The park itself was really very nice and the staff were certainly sympathetic with our feedback on check out. The amenities were clean and comfortable and the grounds also kept lovely. We would have loved to have stayed longer if it was just a little more quieter!!
