We needed a place to completely relax and this hit the nail on the head. I'll start with the negatives which to be fair weren't the fault of the owners. First was that the pool wasn't heated, which was a big disappointment as this was what sold it to us. A piece of the heater had broken and was on order. We were brave little soldiers though and by the end of the week we were braving it, admittedly with screams. The other item was that there is nowhere to walk here, as the roads are lethal (no pavements and country roads!). Now for the positives. Total peace. We opened the back doors from the lounge and just felt the stresses of the world evaporate (one morning i opened the doors at 6am to find a very large deer on the lawn). The accommodation was clean, each bedroom had its own fabulous shower, and although the mattresses are a bit soft we managed to pass out quite comfortably. The owner was lovely, and she even gave us the number of a shooting instructor who when I rang him came along and set up a clay target range and gave tuition. The family had a great time blasting clays and the instructor Alan was knowledgeable and very professional. Local pubs are in Wedmore, 1.5 miles away, and the locals are a happy bunch. If the pool had been heated this would have been 5 stars, so I am probably being a bit picky and I loved the place.
