“Relaxation, tranquillity and comfort.”
Reviewed 7 April 2018 for a stay in March 2018

Great peaceful location with a lovely view. The cottage has everything you would need for a relaxing holiday in the countryside away from it all. Warm and cosy with plenty of space, comfy beds and a well equipped kitchen. Plenty of local beaches, wildlife and scenery to see. Logan Gardens are lovely and the food is delicious. The red kite feeding at Laurieston is unique and quite a sight to see. The Logan Fish Pond is a peculiar tourist attraction and we were glad we went but it was a bit of a surreal entertaining experience.

“Amazing place”
Reviewed 11 March 2018 for a stay in March 2018

Booked this cottage on the last minute for my husbands birthday after our plans changed and so glad we did! The place is amazing and so relaxing, far too big for just the two of us but we happily rattled around in supreme comfort. Arriving on the only day it has ever snowed at the cottage I have never been so warm, we had to keep turning down the heating and only had the open fire on once.
As everyone has already said the most fabulous thing is just to sit in the two chairs and watch the ever changing scenery and animals through the picture window, I think we only saw two cars pass by whilst we were there! Most of the local attractions were closed at this time of year so we spent our time walking and exploring the local coastline. Met some fabulous locals in Drummore and bought some crabs and lobster from a local fisherman. Loved it so much we've already booked again for September.

“A TARDIS! Very comfortable and cosy. One of the best holiday homes we have ever stayed 😍😍”
Reviewed 4 November 2017 for a stay in October 2017

Exceptional!! Far exceeded our expectations. Beautiful spacious house, equipped with everything you could want. The views all around are beautiful but from the front overlooking the bay ( with seals playing) and Northern Ireland appearing on the horizon, just stunning. Very very isolated, just what we wanted, but a well stocked shop in Drummore itself, about a 5-10 minute drive. Plenty of local walks around the cliffs, good footwear definitely needed. Binoculars are an absolute must to fully appreciate the lovely area. Lovely lovely cottage that we hope to return to in the future

“Spacious cottage in a fantastic location”
Reviewed 19 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

A peaceful and relaxing week in a beautiful, quiet (very quiet!) location. The cottage was very clean, warm, comfortable, incredibly spacious and very well equipped. Stunning views from the master bedroom and lounge across the sea to Ireland, particularly beautiful at night when you can see the lights in the far distance. We also saw some beautiful sunsets. Spotted deer in the nearby fields and seals in the bay. The nearby Mull of Galloway lighthouse, Logan Botanic Gardens, Port Logan and Portpatrick are definitely worth a visit. Thank you to Elspeth and Hugh for all the local info, it was lovely to meet you.
Helensdale is the perfect sanctuary from the rigours of modern life.

“Spacious cottage in beautiful surroundings”
Reviewed 31 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Spacious cottage in beautiful surroundings. Really enjoyed our very relaxing stay at Helensdale. 5 Adults and 2 dogs and there was still plenty of room. The cottage is so spacious you don't feel like you are on top of each other and has everything you would ever need. Plenty of beaches close by and stunning sunsets. Mull of Galloway just a short drive which has a lovely gift shop and cafe. If you want to feel well rested then this is the place for you.

“The middle of nowhere”
Reviewed 25 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

If you like being in the middle of nowhere - which we and our dog do - then this is for you. Practicalities first - the house was well equipped, very comfortable, very warm, plenty of hot water and extremely spacious with good Wi-Fi connection and a secure garden. Thoughtful touches were the biscuits, maps and info of the area left out. Elspeth and her husband both popped in to check all was OK which was reassuring. Eating out was not problematic exactly but there was not a huge choice - we tended to go to Portpatrick or ate in - again, not an issue as long as this is not an important part of your holiday. I would advise bringing staple food items with you; there's also plenty of freezer space if required.

The surrounding countryside is stunning - however, we did see it in glorious weather! Seals in the bay immediately below the house, hares, deer, cattle, sheep and a myriad of birds in the garden and hedgerows - what's not to like?! We found plenty to do varying from local gardens, red kite watching, beach walks and the Mull of Galloway lighthouse. All in all a very enjoyable week away in a beautiful and friendly part of the country.

Stayed at Helensdale for a week with family. The cottage was spotless and much bigger than the pictures looked. The scenery was beautiful although there were minimal walks that we found, it was my perfect relaxation holiday. We enjoyed watching the seals in the nearby shore and binoculars were provided too. All the necessities were in the cottage, cooking equipment, towels, hand wash etc. The owner was brilliant and replied to any questions we had and also called round to make sure we were ok with everything. This is the perfect getaway for someone who wants to relax and spend quality family time together. If I could live at Helensdale permanently, I would think twice. Would definitely visit again!!
