For only P600 (or about $15) a night in a Standard Room, I was indeed surprised since I can't compare it to any other accommodation with the same economy-priced hotel category. The place has a swimming pool and staffs were very lenient to guests who would invite friends to swim, at no extra cost.

The room amenities were typical of an economy class hotel but the bathroom had good fixtures and the hot/cold showers worked perfectly fine.

Food were very reasonably priced although it would have bee great if brewed coffee is available during breakfast. Food tasted good and the restaurant offered some local flavor.

The hotel had no security guard and I assumed that it was not necessary as it was just a few steps away from the police station. However, management should place signage and fire-escape routes specially on the third floor.

All in all, Rhovic's Place is perfect for a family accommodation and ideal for budget-conscious back packers who also expect resort-like amenities. The friendly staffs was also a plus. I highly recommended this place when one is visiting Oroquieta City.

Recommended for Backpackers, they dont mind how many you are in the room. We stay on a twin double room, but i think we were upgraded to a doouble + single bed, and it was only for 750 pesos. there were 6 of us who stayed for the night, we added one matress so we paid only 850 all in all. The room was spacious enough for us to move around and add that one matress. They have wifi connection and cable television plus a hot and cold shower as well.. They also have a swimming pool but we decided not to use it as we see it was not maintained at the time of our stay. The meals were cheap yet yummy. Near the police station (safe) and situated at the heart of the city

2 thumbs up for Rhovic's.

We stayed on a different location the next night (Daminar Riverside Garden) but it was the worst experience we had. It made us realize that we should have stayed at Rhovic's.

Stay here with my family quite regularly.

Good points
- Location by the sea and right in the town centre
- Free WIFI access
- Near Police station
- Live music 2-3 nights per week
- Swimming pool
- Airconditioned rooms
- Very Hospitable and friendly staff
- Good value for money
- Not many mosquitoes
- Good atmosphere

Bad Points
- No fire alarm
- Food from restaurant needs improving. Chips are terrible and the chicken and pork contain too much fat and bones and not enough meat. Also kitchen needs to improve on Hygene. For instance exposed pipes run along top of the walls.
- Shower rooms are in bad need of some "thick bleach" to remove black marks. The wash basin leaked and had no shelves or bath hooks to put wash things.
- the gay host that introduced the musicians kept making rude out-dated racist jokes about foreigners and at one point insulted my 2 year old son saying he would grow up to be gay like him.
- Swimming pool was dirty and certainly was never cleaned while I was there. Mold now collecting on steps and even griffiti on side of the walls.
- Could do with better onsite management to manage the numerous staff standing around talking and doing nothing to put more pride into the place and concentrate more on the detail of keeping a hotel clean and tidy.

Overall good value for money however cleanliness is godliness whatever star rating or price it may be....
