Description: The Drewe Arms is a 16th century thatched pub situated in the idyllic village of Broadhembury. We serve home made pub classics alongside a more modern British menu. We are a family run business who pride ourselves on a warm welcome and great service, a fantastic range of local real ales and home made food. We are open all day, 7 days a week.

“Good find”
Reviewed 16 March 2014 via mobile

Although a bit tricky to spot in the dark, it was worth looking for as it's a really nice pub with a good menu and they allow dogs too.

We only went for a bite to eat on our first night staying in the area but with the atmosphere there, you could stay all night and relax.

The owner was very pleasant and took time to talk to us, even though she was busy.

The food was great and plentiful too. Iwould recommend to anyone.

“recommended”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

I ate here with a friend, who recommended it from being there before. The pub is situated in a very pretty village. The pub was warm and welcoming, olde worlde theme, probably centuries old. We went mid week and there was no problem getting a table. We sat next to the log burner which was well attended to on a cold February night. The service from the waitress was second to none, very attentive with nothing being too much trouble. We opted for steak and ale pie, cooked to perfection and definitely recommended. People in the pub were very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely return, I guess the only negative is the lack of choice on the menu. There was a bar menu and an a restaurant menu, both of which offered only around 5 choices each for a main meal in the evening.

“Something for all tastes”
Reviewed 23 February 2014

We have eaten at the Drewe Arms several times in the last 12 months and have never been disappointed. There is now a new menu that will cater for all tastes, but you can also choose from the bar menu - the home made burger is brilliant (100% meat and very tasty). Always a nice atmosphere there and Kate and her team work very hard in making you feel welcome. Lots of real ales and the TARKA lager (made by Otter Brewery) & Pinot Grigio wine is excellent.

The pub is dog friendly with lots of walks around the village and the beer garden is a real sun trap.

“Trying Hard”
Reviewed 16 February 2014

A very pleasant pub/restaurant owned by a hard working enthusiastic couple who are trying to produce high quality food. Good atmosphere, excellent service, decent wine and the food is almost there, but not quite. It was imaginative and well presented but the pork was dry and the deserts lacked choice. The owners have only recently taken over and I am reasonably confident that the quality will continue to improve. I hope so as the area needs good restaurants.

“Pleasant village pub”
Reviewed 14 January 2014

We have eaten at this pub several times over the years and where keen to give it another go since we were aware of new landlords. initially we were a little worried about what we had come to as it seemed a little quite and 'local' if you know what I mean. But the food and service were very good and the end result was a good night out! We will definitely try here again. Try the liver - it was excellent. Local beers served in tapa's style glasses is a great idea i.e. 3 x 1/3rd of a pint glasses of a selection of your choice.
