“Excellent food, reasonable prices & friendly service at this restaurant”
Reviewed 18 August 2012

We were staying at a b&b just outside Exeter and ate in the Globe restaurant on two nights. The service was friendly but not intrusive and the restaurant itself was pleasant with (thank goodness) no background music. The food was excellent and the main meals were very reasonably priced (although if you add on a starter and pudding it's going to take you over £20 a head). . My husband has to have a gluten free diet and we were delighted to find not only that the staff understood what "gluten free" meant but that there was plenty of choice for him. On our first visit, on the Sunday, there was only one vegetarian option (which was delicious!) but there was a vegetarian menu of three choices when we returned on the Wednesday.

We have just returned from a short break at the Globe. The rooms were spotless and recently renovated (money well spent). The food in the resturaunt was very good and god value given the location. Thanks to Lorraine and her team for looking after us. Definately worth a visit.

Grabbed a weekend away and very luckily chose this lovely place. For £85/night had very good quality accommodation in a stylish room. Hotel has been upgraded but still kept some old style in the original building which befits the setting. Breakfast and food are very good. Location is excellent. Only quibble would be: soundproofing could be better - could hear people moving about above us - but that quality at that price - don't want to complain :) Would deifinitely recommend and will be back.

This has to be one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. The welcome was efficient and fast, the location was very pretty, by the estuary, lots of local shops with none closed from what we saw. Lots of eateries to choose from. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious and clean. The food was excellent! The reason we stayed here was because we had a vineyard tour booked at " Pebblebed" which we would highly recommend. This is somewhere that we will visit again for longer. Well done to all staff who made us feel very individual! The only thing is restricted parking at the hotel, but there is plenty in surrounding area at a minimal cost with an easy walking distance.

We stayed just 1 night at The Globe as a birthday treat, and treat it was. We agree with the reviewer who stated it was probably the best hotel he had ever stayed in.The staff were fabulous, friendly, helpful and went the extra mile to ensure we had the best time. From a receptionist who emailed directions, to the bar staff who looked after us, to the restaurant staff who made sure we had everything we needed - which included arranging for the chef to print off a map for us to go for a walk! The food was superb, our evening meals were cooked to perfection,we both had scallops followed by John Dory and Bream. The breakfast again was probably the best we have ever had in an hotel. The full English was as my husband pointed out without a drop of 'fat' on the plate, my smoked haddock and poached egg was a perfect start to the day. There was also fresh fruit - a lovely change from timmed grapefruit!

We booked for a week and so glad we did. One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was to a very high standard. The shower was something else very invigorating. The bed was so confortable had the best nights sleep ever. The food was of excellent standard we had breakfast and dinner. The managment and staff very friendly and accomodating nothing was to much trouble. We will be returning there again very soon!!

Stayed here one night B&B when in Exeter on business - only a 10 minute drive out of the city centre. Hotel rooms have recently been redone and the quality is superb.

Very comfy bed, super powerful shower and very tasteful decoration. Staff were friendly and made me feel welcome. Had a meal in the resaurant in the evening which was delicious (the Maitre d talked me into the chocolate parfait dessert and it did not dissapoint!) and good selection both for evening meal and breakfast - although a bit limited for vegetarians unless you still eat fish.

Really pretty location but parking at the hotel is very limited (if you are brave enough to squeeze your car through the super-narrow driveway). I ended up parking on a side street a few minutes walk away - free rather than using the local car parks.
