I have not eaten at the Lighter for a few years, but have supped a few pints at a family re-union arranged recently.
The staff were very helpful , above the call of duty, of just serving.
The only thing that makes the Lighter Inn special, is the fact that Dan Trout built boats there. The family business has shifted a few hundred metres up river now , south of the causeway. In his day, Dan was the stoic Harboumaster and master boat builder, and few local people would ever forget Uncle Reg who was the 'lively fire brand' brother.
