A pleasant cafe on the town’s High Street, it is quite a large barn like building with high ceilings and whitewashed walls, some of which were displaying art for sale. It looked as though there may also have been a cosier room at the rear, but we did not investigate this.
As soon as you come in the front door you’re greeted by a counter with a great selection of cakes. For some reason, some were covered and some weren’t, which was perhaps a bit of a shame as there were a couple of flies buzzing round.
We went for the Bakewell tarts which were very pleasant indeed, and a generous portion, although at £3.95 one would certainly hope that they would be. Staff seemed friendly and helpful, all in all a decent little pit stop.
