This review may be of limited help as we only called in for a coffee at lunchtime before attending
a thanksgiving service at the nearby church. Although it was very busy with the staff looking
after the diners we were made very welcome and directed to a side lounge with comfortable leather chairs and a very peaceful atmosphere.
Excellent coffee and good value also ultra modern clean loos.
We will return to stay at the hotel....watch this space.

Stayed here with a colleague on business for just one night and wished it could have been longer. Welcome was warm, rooms were large and sumptuous - but really the wow factor was the food, truly magnificent, Michelin standard in my view. The Salutation Inn will be my accommodation of choice when next in the area. It's a benchmark to which others should aspire.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay and found the Salutation Inn very welcoming, very clean and thoroughly enjoyable. We stayed in room one and it was very spacious and airy. A lovely sofa meant we could relax in the room. We particularly liked the Galley that we could go and help ourselves to tea, coffee and homemade biscuits. There were plenty of other treats available. We shall defiantly return when we next visit Devon.

We have recently stayed and eaten at this hotel and I have to say we were astonished at the food we ate here. I would say it won't be very long until The Salutation gets a michellin star and a very much deserved one too! We have eaten at the top restaurants in the country and this was up amongst them. The hotel is lovely too, very high level service and high quality products used. It looks nothing from the outside but don't judge it on that as you won't be disappointed with a stay here. But even if you don't stay at the hotel please give the restaurant a visit, you won't be disappointed. Tom and Lee have got this place going in the right way to get the accolades they deserve. Would love to return here soon, just wished it was round the corner so we could eat here more often!

Room Tip: Room 1 is lovely

Our stay was for two nights in room 1 which is a fabulous room with four windows, massive bed and very large bathroom. Everything was spotless, the galley kitchen supplies you with home baked biscuits, cereals and bread etc, kettle and coffee maker, large array of beverages to use at your leisure. We dined in on our first night, the food is beautifully presented and delicious. The staff are attentive, we were met from the car, please ask for directions to the car park at rear, really easy when you know it, tricky first time round, maybe it should be mentioned on the website.Check in is at 2pm and checkout at 11am, not sure that was on website. Perfect position in centre of very pretty Topsham but quiet and calm. We met a lot of locals in nearby shops who are all very supportive of the Salutation. Renovated to a very high standard whilst sympathetic to the history. All the recent comments I have read I agree with, it really is lovely.

My husband and myself stayed at this hotel for one night and didn't want to leave. The hotel is beautifully decorated and so comfortable. The staff and service were superb especially Tomasz who certainly goes the extra mile. The restaurant was a revelation. The food was amazing. We regularly eat at restaurants in London and this restaurant was up there with some of the best.
We will certainly be back.

We stayed for one night at The Salutation. It is a really lovely old inn which has been beautifully renovated into a really lovely boutique hotel. Rooms are lovely and spacious; food is superb- 5 course tasting menu with options and staff all very friendly. Also lovely breakfasts. We will be back again
