Excellent food and service. Maybe a little pricey for the quality and portion size. Very nicely decorated and atmosphere relaxed .

The atmosphere in the restaurant was good and the staff were professional but not formal and very welcoming. Decoration was restrained and refined. Our table of four took the 7 course tasting menu and the corresponding wine flight which came in at a fairly hefty £103 per head. The quality of the food and the cooking was first class although for two of us the dessert courses were far too sweet. The issue was that while each course stood well on its own the menu felt like seven separate dishes rather than a planned coordinated menu. I feel that a tasting menu should lead the diner through an evening with each course complimenting the previous one and leading on to the next and to my mind this didn't happen. So, would I go again? Yes, probably. Was the night a complete success? No. It was almost there but when the bill comes to almost £450 I'm looking for something closer to a perfect experience.

Wonderful food, immaculate service - what more could you ask for? The whole building exudes quality and taste. We chose the 5 course menu but didn't really fancy one of the courses and that was swapped with absolutely no fuss. Actually, to describe the menu as a tasting menu is slightly misleading as the courses are more substantial than that. We stayed overnight and again the quality of the bedroom in what is after all a very old building was excellent. Deserves to do really well!

We had the 5 course taster menu to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food was exceptional, just like Masterchef, only you get to eat it! Tom, the chef, also gave us a tour of the immaculate kitchen and the lovely rooms upstairs. Service was amazingly attentive, but never obtrusive. More importantly, the food was sublime. Loved the black pudding bon bons and the most delicious chicken. Chef obligingly let us have one of the pudding options from the 7 course menu. It was outstanding. Make sure you have the petits fours, made by a very competent patissier. We will definitely be back.
