“Don't miss it!”
Reviewed 16 June 2013 via mobile

Love it! Great place to stop for brunch. Coffee is great. Best flat white for ages. Had the brunch special - toasted Brie on home made focaccia with 2 poached eggs and ham. Delicious. This place is busy with locals. Always s good sign. Recommend it.

“Lovely breakfast if you don't mind dogs”
Reviewed 15 June 2013

I can not claim that I have fully evaluated this cafe bar as I only went there for breakfast. However, the bacon bap at £3.50 was first class - two good sized rashers of very tasty bacon in a lovely fluffy white bap. This was followed by some rounds of perfectly (lightly) toasted bread with plenty of jam served by a very attentive polite young man. The Americano and latte were also excellent. I am looking forward to a return visit to sample the lunch or dinner menu so that I can give a balanced review.

One feature which may be relevant to readers is that this is definitely a "doggie friendly" bar which rather surprised me. During my time in Sheffield, I would not stay in any pub/restaurant where dogs were allowed as such places were usually unhygienic and frequented by rough losers who allowed their pit-bulls to sit alongside them on the greasy seating. No such categorisation applies in green-wellie Topsham. However this feature may well divide the potential clientele. Dog-owners may love it, whereas others may not. I myself witnessed a spaniel requiring restraint as it was about to attack a small child, and a waitress fondling a customer's dog, then returning to serve food without washing her hands.

“Great value, lunches and brunches”
Reviewed 7 June 2013

The Route 2 is a great little find in Topsham. It doesn’t have the polished and shiny glamour that many of the restaurants and Cafes in Topsham pride themselves on but that’s what makes Route 2 the place to go for brunch or lunch.

It’s a little bit different, a bit quirky, with bicycles being the theme. Yes the tables could do with a little more wiping but the standard of the food is definitely value for money. There’s nothing fancy about what they offer which is why I love it.

If you don’t want some B grade chef attempting eggs Benedict but just fancy a bit of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, or a sausage bap, then go here.

Great coffee too!

“Not going back”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

We were hoping for a quick, tasty and enjoyable lunch after a morning on the beach. Things started badly when the staff grumbled with each other whilst I was paying about how hard they were working. It then took an hour to serve 2 sausage baps, 1 plate of cold fish, and a 'special' for £7 of two poached eggs and ham on what can only be described as a tiny piece of bread. To hide their embaressment the plate was loaded up with rather limp greenery that was tasteless. Wish we had gone across the road to the Lighter Inn, where we know from experience the fish is fresh (the crab didn't taste at all good). A complete waste of £30.
