Stopped off at Route 2 after walking from Exeter. What a fab little find. We didn't want anything formal. We were lucky enough to get the great window seat which has a great view over the water. The chaps serving are beyond helpful and friendly. They're perfect. My husband had the poached egg dish and I went for the seafood platter. Neither could be faulted and were reasonably priced. All washed down with a cider. Just perfect for a lunchtime. Will be back for certain.

We hired bikes to cycle to Exmouth. The young chap went through the bikes to make sure we knew what we were doing and which way to head. Easy to hire and a great afternoon.

Our 1 night stay here was very disappointing. We had looked at these apartments a year ago when the owners had recently taken over. The stair carpet leading up to the apartments was filthy but we expected it would be cleaned once the new owners had settled in. We were wrong it was even worse than before. The apartment itself (The Estuary) looked clean on the surface but on closer inspection it was pretty bad. The leather lamp on the bedside cabinet was old, warped and covered in white dust as was the bedside cabinet. There were cobwebs in the bathroom and the wooden blind was spattered with what looked like toothpaste. The dining room glass table had been wiped and left to dry and so full of marks. The bed was clean although only a normal size double and so not much room. The closet had 2 dirty pillows and a dirty looking old blanket on the floor for the spare bed. The stairs leading to the apartments are very narrow and steep. The cafe downstairs is a sort of greasy spoon and smelled of bleach mixed with food in the orning, not at all appetising. The kitchen which is on show does not look clean. I know this is a bike rental shop too but cleanliness should be primary. These new owners have had over a year to clean the place and if anything I think it is worse. It is definitely not worth 100 pounds a night. Spend a little more and stay somewhere else.

Love it! Great place to stop for brunch. Coffee is great. Best flat white for ages. Had the brunch special - toasted Brie on home made focaccia with 2 poached eggs and ham. Delicious. This place is busy with locals. Always s good sign. Recommend it.
