We ate at the Globe twice on our short stay in Topsham - which tells you that we thoroughly enjoyed the first time! The food was excellent - a good range, well cooked and nicely presented. The first time, the service was excellent - the waitress was attentive, knew her wines as well as her food, and was friendly and helpful. The second time I can only assume there was an issue with staff sickness or something - we waited over 40 minutes for our main course. They were busy but we got no explanation and no apology while waiting - just a quick 'sorry about the wait' as the food was finally brought, before the over-stretched waiter/barman dashed off to the next person! A quick apology while we were waiting, and an explanation - would have gone a long way, but they were obviously so under-staffed perhaps there just wasn't time. Again, the food was delicious so the wait was worth it in the end!
