“The perfect quiet place of your own in the Devon countryside”

This is the third time we have stayed at Barnfield and wheras some holiday cottages don't seem as good the second time Barnfields feels better each time we visit. The cottage is always spotless, there is wood for the stove and a fully euipped kitchen. Because the bedrooms are on the ground floor the upstairs living area gives a perfect view across the fields and the vinyard, not so many birds this time but in the past we have seen red kites and woodpeckers. Our third visit but definitely not oyr last - highly recommended.

Really had a great time in and around this place. If you don´t love the countryside you will after a visit. A warm welcome by the Goulden family and in the area around was plenty to do, walking, fishing, cycling, beach, horsebackriding, picking berries in the wood and real rest along side the river. ( 300 M walk via own field brought you to a great bbq spot along the river!) It was all wonderfull and the kids loved it aswell. they played with the families childeren and enjoyed the space. i would really recommend this cottage! Thank you Ben and Caroline for all kind assitence and we really appreciated your kind hospitallity. Best Jan & Fam.

“Relaxing family holiday”

We had a great time at Barnfield cottage. The location was quiet, the view was beautiful and the cottage even better then in the pictures. We also did a bit of exploring whilst we were there. We went to Canonteign Falls a good 30 minutes drive by car. We went up the fall with our 18 months old (in a child carrier which they rent there for £2.50)! 1 hour up and 30 minutes down! Such good fun. Really recommend.
My one advice is that you go do a big shop on the way to the cottage otherwise the closest big supermarket (in this case Sainsburys) is 20 minutes drive and both ways it add up!

“Peaceful and Perfect”

My only regret is that I only stayed for three nights. A really lovely barn conversion, spotlessly clean and very comfortable indeed. The owners were always available but unobtrusive, and Caroline was extremely kind and concerned when I hurt myself (completely my own fault) even buying me some chocolate!
It was very peaceful there with beautiful views. I shall definitely go back but will stay longer next time. Thank you

We have just returned from a wonderful relaxing weekend at this idyllic retreat. The beds are very comfortable, the accommodation immaculately clean and the upstairs lounge/ dining area with its roof beams, wood burning fire and gorgeous views of the countryside is really something special. It was the perfect base for our first trip to Dartmoor!
