A quintessential English Hotel set in perfect gardens. A country house experience that is difficult to beat.

Everything about the stay was fantastic - the staff are wonderful and the room fantastic. There are only 16 rooms - so you feel part of a big family

Things to like - an honour bar, free use of wet weather gear and wellies, the garden walk, croquet on the lawn, great food (especially afternoon tea) and wine.

If you do chose to leave the hotel grounds then the town of Tavistock is 7 miles away, Plymouth is in easy reach as are both costs of Devon. The Hotel offers many different activities - most of which are "outsourced" but good quality experiences.

This hotel is a must at least once in your life. Small, intimate, sensational food and service in a haven of silent Devon countryside. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their willingness to unassumingly cater to every need and wish.

The dining room has excellent menus and a carefully balanced wine list catering to a breadth of tastes.

The views from most rooms are beautiful and I won't spoil anyone's anticipated pleasure by describing them - go see and experience for yourself. The building is Grade 1 listed and you shouldn't expect everything to be exactly up to date, but this only adds to the charm.

As I said about the Breakers in Palm Beach, open your wallet and indulge!

The hotel is not cheap but I felt it was worth every penny.

Room Tip: Rooms 5 or 8 for starters!

I came here for a wedding, but did not stay overnight.

The staff were superb, the atmosphere amazing and the overall ambiance difficult to beat. This hotel has to be seen to be believed.

From cosy rooms for ones and twos, to the terrace; from exceptional landscaped gardens to fantastic food; it really is something very special.

Stayed here with my lovely boyfriend as a surprise 'treat'.

The hotel is old and beautiful, yes the windows are a bit wobbly, the floorboards creak, the old handles are loose - welcome to beautiful old buildings!

We stayed in room 5 which was heaven - huge room, fantastic bay window lover looking the Tamar, chaise long, plenty of space & plush furnishings. Bathroom was almost as large with a claw footed bath - divine!!

We had afternoon tea in the lounge, followed by a walk around the grounds - the shell house is well worth a peek, then an evening meal which was tasty and well presented - we then had coffee again in the lounge, where others were relaxing, chatting, reading papers etc in front of the fire, very relaxed and informal

Breakfast was equally as scrummy, we had all the trimmings and full thoroughly well fed

Staff were attentive, polite, well trained and helpful

Te trip was a good balance of being looked after but also left alone to relax and enjoy ourselves

I have stayed in 'plusher' 5 star hotels but each hotel has it's own style and merits and we would definitely go back to Hotel Endsleigh

We enjoyed a wonderful tour of the garden led by the very personable and knowledgeable Head Gardener, Simon, followed by a superb lunch, with impeccable service. The hotel grounds are extensive and quite beautiful and the staff were great hosts. Can't wait to return.

We came as a group of eleven to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday and had a truly wonderful afternoon at Hotel Endsleigh. We began with drinks on arrival, then enjoyed a private room overlooking the gardens and a delicious lunch. We were able to make our choice from the menu on the day, including my dairy and gluten free daughter, who had her own, very similar, menu - a standard of service and care that she rarely enjoys! It was all beautifully presented and efficiently and unobtrusively served. We weren't rushed at all and could hardly believe it was four o'clock when we left the table to enjoy a stroll in the beautiful gardens. Coming here is always a treat and we would definitely recommend it to others. Hotel Endsleigh certainly made my mother's day feel very special.

We have been here twice now and have found the standard of food excellent & beautifully presented. It tastes as delicious as it looks. The setting is outstanding, wood paneling in abundance and a variety of comfy rooms to simply relax in. The grounds were carpeted in bluebells and wild garlic. The gardens are very diverse with amazing views & woodland walks as well as being able to stroll beside the river Tamar. We had the special 3 course menu but did not stay the nights because we are locals. We took advantage of looking around a few of the rooms & were very impressed. We will most certainly be making another visit.
