“Nice hotel but annoying small things”
Reviewed 9 April 2014

Stayed for 3 nights for business when usual hotel in the area was full.

Hotel is very well designed, clean and attractive. Very nice location for events and quiet.

Room was very large but quite cold with 4 large windows. Very romantic and lovely in the summer but in the winter was chilly! Only heat available was storage fan type heaters that worked quite well but very noisy. In the middle of the night I had to get up and turn them off.

Bathroom was separate with shower over. Not very practical for a good shower with water easy to spray everywhere with no screen, curtain or section. Plenty of room for a cubicle but I guess the room was meant for couples on a romantic weekend rather than a single business traveller. Also, no table or stand for the suitcase so I had to have it open on the floor.

Room had a fridge which was empty and also noisy so I pulled the plug. No plugs next to the bed to charge the iphone so I had to leave it on the desk some distance from the bed. Very poor wifi signal in the bedroom so had to go to the breakfast room to do connection and skype.

Breakfast was reasonable continental fare, nothing special. Breakfast room also doubled as a lounge / sitting area with large fireplace but very small fire. Shame that there was not more fuel to warm up the room. Perhaps occupancy was low... Coffee machine very good but was surprised that on check out I had been charged for each individual drink I had that the person on duty saw! Perhaps I should not be surprised but as no water in the room for free this would have been nice.

The negative points I mention are all small things but a little annoying and could easily be fixed.

Room Tip: don't go upstairs if you are tall due to low beams!

Arrived late but arrangements were in place to ensure we could get to our room.
Large comfortable loft room with exposed (low) beams which was interesting if you taller than 5 feet. Not there long enough to enjoy the facilities but the location was good as it was set back from the road so very quite.

Happy to stay again if in the area.

Now stayed twice at this Hotel on route to central Europe.Lovely rooms , helpful staff and good breakfast. Also close to the motorway. Slight problem there is no restaurant at the Hotel which wasn't a problem for us .We found a very good Chinese 5 or 6 minutes walk away. They also have a limited room service which may suit some.

We chose Le Val-Fayt as it was convenient for visiting friends in Morlanwelz, and because it seemed a quiet romantic place. The hotel is a modern construction or conversion, and perhaps lacks the quaintness or charm that I'd thought I'd seen in the photos, but it is a nicely set out, quiet, quality three-star hotel. The room was spacious (we were bumped up from a "Cosy" to a "Supérieure"), the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large and equipped with a walk-in (and sit-down, if you wish) "rain" shower. We didn't make use of the spa/sauna/hammam, which costs extra. The room rate is ok for the quality of the place - not a bargain, but not outrageous either. However I found the cold breakfast buffet decidedly average for the 12 euros being asked. There is no restaurant in the hotel ; I recall them having a small snack/light-dinner menu in the room, although when we arrived we were told nothing was available that night. The location is small town rural, and you will have to drive some distance to find a restaurant - best to look one up ahead of time.
