Hotel was fantastic! Rooms were modern, beautifully decorated and the bathroom was a sanctuary. The only thing was there was a power issue in our room, which may have affected the AC, but we kept the patio door open with just the screen and it was cool enough at night so it wasnt an issue.
Hotel located on a strip of beach which was fantastic to just relax on and then jump in the sea or rinse down and hit the pool.
Service was above fantastic. Front desk was extremely helpful, even had a binder of places you can tour, restaurants they recommend.
Food was surprisingly good too. Wifi was availiable in the lobby, but wired service didnt work in my room.
Cost us 30 Euro to go from airport to hotel.

I stayed 5 days in Hotel Ammos and enjoyed the hospitallity and truly friendly atmosphere there. The staff is unusual professional and service minded and the hotel has this family like feeling to it, and that is something special.

Set back from the road, right on the beach, Ammos is a small, pretty, low-key, quiet resort on a narrow but nice beach with a nice pool. Not luxurious, but nicely designed, comfortable, and completely remodeled, so everything is new and fresh. Totally relaxing and just what we were looking for. Be sure to ask for a room with a balcony & sea view. What makes Ammos so special is the owner, Nikos, and his staff who are so helpful. Nikos, especially, was great and gave us tips and directions for lovely untouristed villages, good places to eat, and a taverna (called Nikos - no relation) with great food, but no atmosphere -- it is sort of in a parking lot -- but the woman who is the owner/cook is warm and welcoming, everything was delicious, and it is the "real thing." We liked it so much we went twice.
Keep in mind that the beach front along the northern Crete coast surrounding Ammos is a little tacky, with wall to wall motel-type places as well as some big gaudy resorts (not luxurious, just big and gaudy), souvenir shops, mini marts, touristy restaurants with menus posted in four languages, etc. In the midst of all that, Ammos is a breath of fesh air.

We have one night left at this lovely hotel and do not want our holiday to end! The staff are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble. They have been wonderful with our 8 month old baby and we have even had two evenings to ourselves whilst baby sitting was arranged. Every day we have been able to say what we fancy doing and the staff let us know the best places to visit, where to eat and local delecacies to try as well as the places to be avoided!
We have done lots of travelling and stayed at many hotels - the service and location make this one of our favorites and definately one to recommend if you are travelling with young babies.

After an impromptu ferry from Santorini to Crete on our honeymoon, we used TripAdvisor to find the Ammos Hotel. After numerous attempts, we finally found the beautiful hotel tucked away just about 4 km from the Old Town in Chania.

I highly recommend it. The deluxe seaside room was beautifully appointed and overlooked the pool and beach. Very modern. Satelitte TV, great bed, iPod docking station, and the best shower we had in 2 weeks through Greece and Turkey. The owner is also a fantastic guy who helped me plan the next 2 days in Crete, let me use his computer, and even called ahead to the Lato Hotel in Iraklio to make reservations.

I think Chania is a fantastic town, and given how tight the Old Town is, it's nice to have a beach option so close that you can escape to.

We stayed at the Ammos Hotel last May. It was our 10th anniversary. We had a fabulous time!!!! We loved Nikos and his staff. Fabulous !Fabulous!
Nikos was a charming host, He gave us great advice on where to go. Our room was casual chic, with a great view of the pool and the ocean. Yummy Greek cuisine. It was classy, warm and exactly what we wanted.

After reading the reviews on TripAdvisor I booked our stay through the hotel. We had a room on the bottom floor at the very end with a porch out to the pool. The room was quite large with the bed, a couch and mini kitchen. The view was great sitting on the porch. We had many nights of beautiful sunsets. We spent some time laying out on the beach and they had bar service to the beach which was nice. The bathrooms were very modern and nice. We had little bugs that kept coming in our bathroom. We mentioned it to the staff and they said they would spray. We rented a car and the drive into the town of Chania was very quick. We also drove to a beach on the very far end of the island. I can't remember the name, but it was the most beautiful beach we saw in Greece! Driving west from the hotel there are tons of restaurants. My only complaint was after coming over from Santorini on the ferry many of my items got wet from the choppy ride. They were very nice and one of the employees took home my wet, dirty pieces to clean, however when they came back I was missing a pair of pants. I'm not suggesting they stole them but maybe misplaced them, however they denied any wrong doing.

  • Liked — Location, beautiful beach, nice clean rooms
  • Disliked — Bugs in the bathroom (but not a huge problem)
