Only after one stays at Ammos Hotel does he/she realise how unique this friendly hotel is. Everything is so smooth here, from the effortlessly helpful staff, to the amazing cretan breakfast, to the beautiful pool, and to the well furnished and cleverly designed rooms (perfect matress, by the way, for excellent sleep). Another thing added, is how Nikos, the owner, is a good-hearted guy with great sense of humour and always eager to find solutions and give you suggestions for the best stay ever. Don't hesitate to ask him directions to the best mountain villages close by, for beautiful daily trips.
I would deffinetely recommend itfor families with children since the location and the architecture of the hotel is great for kids to play around (by the pool or around the garden).
Can't wait to go again.

This was a friendly hotel with great food that was right on the beach. This was our first stop on our honeymoon and one of the best. The staff was great and the greek salad was awesome. The only concerns were the number of kids that prevented us from wanting to use the pool. But the beach was just outside, and that's really where we wanted to be. Especially nice was the beach side drink service. This hotel is definitely worth the price. Just wish we had sent home some of the olives we got at the corner store.

On our honeymoon, Chania was actually the last choice when picking our three island destinations. We wanted to see a less touristy, less traveled part of the Greek Islands. In hindsight, it was the best decision we could have made and our favorite spot on our 10 day honeymoon. We stayed three nights in Chania, before traveling to Santorini and Mykonos. Upon arrival at Ammos, my husband had set up a honeymoon package for both the kick off our our honeymoon and for my birthday. We were shown directly to our room and a cold bottle of champagne, strawberries, and chocolates were waiting on the balcony and rose petals adorned our bed. It was a treat!

Ammos is comparable to none in Chania at its price point. The staff is superb. They knew us by name and always remembered our room number. The beach was wonderful. One morning we woke up a bit later than normal, and were a bit worried that we would not be able to find a seat when we went down to the beach. However, when we got there, we found that a staff member had reserved two seat under umbrellas for us without us even requesting it. The seats would have been taken by that point in the afternoon, but Ammos was taking care of us so that we could truly relax without worry. Furthermore, you can order from the fabulous restaurant (the food was great and well priced) directly from the beach. The hotel staff frequently tip-toes around the beach and takes orders and serves guests, while hardly being seen at the same time. Nikos gave us wonderful restaurant recommendations and helped us with parking, reservations, and other ideas when we went into the main part of the town. Just before we were about to need something or ask for something, it was taken care or answered without any effort on our part. On the morning of our early AM departure, the hotel surprised us with breakfast and coffee as we packed up and left for Heraklion, telling us they were sad to see us go!

If you rent a car, Ammos is the BEST option. It is an easy 8 minute ride into town (even with heavy traffic in high season), 2 minute walk to a small grocery type store, and close to some wonderful beach bars further away from the city center. We recommend Mylos Beach Bar and Destiji Beach Bar. Both are only about a 10 minute car ride away from Ammos. There is fun in both directions! We enjoyed going into town for periods of time and then being able to escape the extremely crowded harbor and town center to the tranquil yet still lively beaches of Ammos. We would recommend this to families, older couples, and young, active couples like ourselves.

I don't really want to let the world know how good this hotel is but it really is absolutely amazing. I generally expect that if i am paying the prices charged such as here that the service etc should be good and it was excellent. Very friendly hotel, good food.. we rarely went anywhere else. The hotel owners bend over backwards to keep the hotel running smoothly. We had 2 weeks here and it was bliss. My son had a birthday while here and Nikos ordered a chocolate cake for him which was fantastic. The only niggle was the smokers..i think the upstairs patio area could be made smoke free since there is all the downstairs area to dine and smoke. As nonsmokers it was difficult to get away from it. The cats didn't bother us, they are stray and generally keep away from diners. They added to the Cretian feel since it is a cat loving island.

We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary at Ammos and it was great. Lovely room with a balcony overlooking the pool and the wonderful beach. The setting is fantastic and we swam in the clear sea water almost every day. The hotel was quite quiet out of season which we loved. The staff were excellent, nothing is too much trouble. It is quite pricey and breakfast is extra. The restaurant is good but not everything was available - including champagne! The room was very good with a small kitchenette and the bathroom was spotless - with a shower big enough for two! The hotel is a bus ride outside of Chania town but the buses are frequent and it only takes 10 or 15 minutes. I would love to go back to this hotel and would have not hesitation in recommending it.

We stayed for one week in late October the food was so good we ate in the hotel every night. The main waitress, Poppy, was so friendly. In the morning another waitress Maria assisted with the breakfasts and was again very helpful, in fact all the staff were so nice. The owner Nicos and his partnet Dimitra were very nice and advised us about what we should see and do.

In fact we just lazed about the beach and ate far too much!

I would definatelt stay here again and i highty recommend it to others. the rooms were very clean and well furnished, and our ground floor room was two steps from the pool and 10 steps from the beach which was lovely and sandy with plenty of sun beds and parisoles and the sea was so beautifully clear.

As for Crete, we rented a car just for one day and went through the mountains to the south west coast. the scenery was stunning and the coastline on the south of the island beautiful with pink sands!

Very pleased with our choice to go to this hotel and this island. And the cost for eating at the hotel was also a surprise, we had a B & B deal, all our other meals and drinks/wine only came to 320 E !!!! for the whole week. We will return.

Just back from the Ammos hotel and it was a breathe of fresh air! Normally as a couple we opt for small boutique hotels so it was great to find one which was child friendly too!! The staff were so friendly to our daughter (3) - she loved it! Our room was perfectly formed and in a great spot, next to the pool which was right next to the beach. Going to sleep and waking up hearing the sea was amazing. This hotel is represented very well by its website and all of the reviews here. The staff were always there to help which was really needed at this point in the season - when everything is closing for the year. Wa ate in the hotel 3/4 nights and the food was really good - fresh and tasty.

The only thing which may stop us from returning is the area of Chania - we would probably head for the south coast next time but if Ammos ever open a sister hotel - we'll be there!
