We stayed at the Ammos Hotel for 5 nights during a heat wave in June. We loved the room layout, which included a sitting area with comfy sofa and a small kitchenette. The air-conditioning worked well (not always so in Greece), and sheets and towels were replaced daily. The bathroom amenities are high-quality Korres products. The hotel has the best spot on Agii Apostoli beach, and has great beach chairs, umbrellas, and towels which are free for the guests. The beach-side "room service" was great, too: we had their wonderful stuffed grape leaves and tzatziki one day. In general, the hotel's restaurant serves very high quality food, including many lighter items. The owner, Nikos, addresses every detail and need, and even gave us great suggestions for our stay in Rhethymnon.

The staff at the Ammos is outstanding. We used this as a base to explore Western Crete, since traveling to/from the center of Chania daily can be a challenge now that the area is so densely populated. Suggestions for touring made by the staff were excellent, and we managed to find some of the best meals we had on our trip by following their suggestions. The beaches of Flassarna and Elaphonisi are about an hour's drive, and the hotel provided beach towels, which seemed like a huge luxury after having dragged our own around on previous trips.

The Ammos is a relaxing refuge away from the hectic Chania Old Town.

Located close enough, yet also far enough away from Chania and the busier beaches to the West, the Ammos is an excellent hotel. I cant say enough about the staff, they were excellent! From helping with excursions to recommending restaurants in Chania, they went above and beyond to make our trip great. The beach at the hotel is nice, with chairs and umbrellas and great views of the sunset. The on-site restaurant has good food and serves all day. The rooms were clean and well kept. The bed leaves a little to be desired. Overall, a great place!

We stayed at Ammos for nearly a week in late April 2010. It was excellent, just as advertised by the other reviews in this forum. Everything about this place is perfect…hosts (Nikos and all staff), rooms, location, beach, restaurant (breakfast/lunch/dinner), pool, grounds, and atmosphere. We don’t think we have had better service from a staff such as Nikos and his team. They were so helpful with everything, from arranging a post office delivery of items back home to the numerous excellent recommendations for restaurants and activities. We would absolutely love to come back to Chania and stay here again!

This hotel caters to everyone. We were there as a couple, but we saw families with young kids and grandparents, all of them enjoying it equally. Nikos and his staff make it almost impossible to leave the hotel grounds. The setting and meals make it hard to find a reason to go somewhere else, even if it is just for a day trip!

We found the Ammos Hotel on this web site and were very impressed with the reviews we found, on making enquries to the Ammos we were responded to very timely and professionally this aided our decision to stay there.

We arrived late evening for our first night after a delayed flight, the staff were more than happy to provide us with a late night dinner, they made us feel so very relaxed and welcome having had a very long day.

The front desk staff could not have been more helpful they organized all our trips as well as recommending a rental car company and even negotiated getting us a better rate, nothing was too much trouble for them, from the Owner Nikos to Anastasia and Dimitra (please excuse spelling and others that I did not get a name to mention them) but it was first class service.

We were taken to our room and were absolutely delighted with the exquisite decor and cleanliness, of course when you have a view of the Aegean Sea that is also wonderful. We ate dinner 3 out of 4 nights in the restaurant there with a super waitress popi, she was a delight, I happened to mention that I like fresh grilled sardines and lo and behold next evening she had them on the special menu for us along with a plate of mixed grilled vegatables that was just a gourmet delight. Also a whole fresh Sea Bream grilled. The food at Ammos is first rate restaurant food not hotel food. The breakfast buffet was a sight for sore eyes just everything you could imagine and very tastefully done.

The overall atmosphere and ambiance is of friendliness and efficency, along with a feeling that you are very much in a place where the thing that makes the staff happy is being able to help your stay a better one.

We unequivocally recommend Hotel Ammos to anyone visiting Chania, having travelled extensively, this is by far and away the best experience all round for this boutique style Hotel.

Just returned from a week's holiday at the Ammos hotel. Absolutely loved it. We took our 20 month old little boy and the staff at the Ammos Hotel could not have been better with him. He has yet to master his table manners and can be a bit embarassing at dinner time in public but the hotel was so relaxed and the waitresses so welcoming and friendly that it was never a problem. The food was great and good value too. The rooms were immaculate and very clean and our little boy even developed a crush on the cleaner she was so lovely too him!! The staff gave great advice on where to go and had some good suggestions for other places to eat around the hania province. The car rental that they recommended also worked out very well for us and was much cheaper than international rental agencies. Overall a great holiday with a brilliant atmosphere.
