“Cheap and cheerful”
Reviewed 4 June 2014 via mobile

Arrived late at night from Heraklion, the person behind the desk was very helpful and provided us with lots of useful information on the city and what to do. The room however was very basic, but close to the beaches. While there was an air conditioner in the room there was no control, so we were unable to use it and a number of the powerpoints in the room didnt work. The room was full of drain flys, no sooner did you get rid of them all, another lot took their place. It was also quite noisy with guests in rooms above shouting and partying on the verandahs well after midnight. Not somewhere I would go again in a hurry, but if its Greece on the cheap that you're doing, give it a try.

We are happy you had a nice stay at Niriis hotel! For your information, airconditioning is extra charge, you have to ask at the reception to unlock it and the charge is per kilowatt, 1 kw is 1 euro. Average use at 25C for the whole night is 2-3 euros. Nevertheless in 2013 we installed a powerful industrial fan which takes out the hot air from the bathrooms and keep the rooms cooler.
If you have noise problems or need anything you can call 100 from the phone in the room, you can contact us directly and then we could solve situations like guests who make noise. If we don't know about the problem, we can't solve it. About the flies, like other insects such as mosquitoes and cockroaches, they fly and prefer cool places, so no matter how well a room is cleaned, they can appear!

This is a very nice hotel situated not too far from the city of Chania in an area called Agii Apostoli which is a quiet and relaxing.

LOCATION: It is located in the center of the Agii Apostoli area, 5 minutes away from the bus stop, many convenience stores and most importantly the beach! It is possible to get to Chania via bus with a regular bus that drops you in the center costing 1.50 Euro or by Taxi which costs around 6 Euros.

ROOM: We stayed in a 3 bed room; 3 single beds. The room itself was very clean and of a reasonable size with enough electrical sockets for our needs. The kitchenette had two hobs and a sink which were very well maintained and clean. The bathroom was very clean and well maintained and was reasonably sized.

SERVICE: The service was on the whole good with the staff being very knowledgeable and helpful.

OTHERS: The Wifi was good having a reasonable connection in my room. It certainly was not the fastest but it sufficed for surfing the web and social media but don't expect to be able to stream Youtube videos.

A note about the area Agii Apostoli; it has all facilities and restaurants that one would need on holiday however I found it to be rather quiet (bearing in mind I visited in early May) so anyone wanting busy bars or clubs to visit may want to consider a hotel nearer to the center of Chania.

Niriis Hotel is great value for money, coupled with the very knowledgeable staff is a great place to discover western Crete.

Hello and thank you for posting your review!
At Niriis we are happy when our guests are happy.
May is generally conidered low season, so us you can understand some shops that might be closed open in June. However, there is a bus every 30 min to Chania which is just 4km away. Also for nightlife you have the option of going to Platanias or Agia Marina ( tourist villages 4 km west of Agioi Apostoloi) by taking the 24hr bus there!
Thank you again for choosing Niriis Hotel!

The hotel is situated in a perfect location. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city but close to many bus stops to get you there quickly. It is also close to 2 pretty beaches and a lot of stores and take away food shops! George is amazing as he helps you plan all your day trips and gives great advice! Although there is no pool in the actual hotel there are many pools that we had access to! One of my favourite places to stay :)

Booked this accomodation for our first night getting in to Chania because we arrived late and just needed a place to crash and this did the job. Stayed in one of the twin rooms.

Room was small but clean. Staff was very nice and helpful with ideas for the following day. You can use two of the hotel pools very closeby with the purchase of a drink. Veronica hotel down the street offered an all you can eat breakfast for 5 Euro which was the best breakfast we had while in Crete. Had a wide variety to choose from including hot items like fried egg, frittata type egg and bacon! As well as toasts, cereal, almond muffin, yogurt, fruit, and Greek salad. The beach is just a few minutes walk away. Didn't swim or stay long but would have been nice I think. There's a mini mart right on the corner which was convenient.

There was limited area for parking close to the hotel which could be a problem during high season. We had absolutely no problem with this in May. The shower was very close to the toilet but I didn't mind that. You do have to pay for air con. We didn't use it but I believe the hotel website estimates it at 6 euro per night on average.

Overall I would recommend this especially if you are on a budget because it was definitely the cheapest place I found I'm trip advisor and gives you the most bang doe your buck :)

Thank you so much for commenting Niriis Hotel. At Niriis we aim to provide a "quality" stay at a low cost and make our guests feel like home. Niriis is located at the best location near the old town of Chania, Agioi Apostoloi. There is a big free parking near the hotel where our guests can park their vehicles. Regarding the aircondition, there is an electronic meter inside the room and you pay as much as you use it.

Thank you again and hope to see you in the future!

Stayed for 3 nights, the staff were really friendly and helpful and made sure we made the most of our trip. The beaches nearby are pleasant but a bit mass-tourismy, but then again the whole island is like that. The town centre is technically quite near but the road is hilly and very busy so you can only really get the bus in- it is €1.10 each way and the hostel sells tickets.
