Convento di Santa Croce
Reviewed 13 June 2013

We spent two nights there in April and were welcomed warmly by the owners. The first night we were the only guests and were served the evening meal in the dining room while the owners were also having dinner. My husband speaks Italian so it was great to be able to chat.

Our room was nicely decorated, impeccably clean and the window opened to a magnificent view of the valley. It was a little chilly so we asked for some heat and were immediately accommodated. This is a peaceful location with only a bar and small trattoria in the village. The convento provides breakfast and will prepare an evening meal on request.

This is not a place for someone with handicaps or difficulty walking upstairs. The rooms are on the second floor accessed by the original deep stone stairs. A car is necessary and there is ample parking outside the convento.

We enjoyed our short visit and appreciated the welcome of the hosts and the simple quiet of the location, particularly after a long flight and drive.

We received a very warm, friendly welcome and all our questions were answered about what the nearby attractions (sporting, nature, cultural etc) had to offer. This convent that has been converted into an 'agriturismo' that has a very inviting and cosy atmosphere. It is easy to reach, in quiet location with convenient parking. It is situated in a strategic position because you can enjoy the peace and quiet while you admire the mountain views and yet, you can still reach the gorgeous Spoleto town with a 5 minute drive. The rooms and premises were clean and very well manicured. Timewise, we could only have a weekend trip but our night's stay was very comfortable and an absolute pleasure. Thank you.

We spent 2 nights in this hotel and could feel the atmosphere of the ancient monastery through the frescos and the tranquility of the location.
We were welcomed very very friendly, although we arrived at midnight.
Although no air condition, we slept well, as the windows are full opened and no mosquitos thanks to the nets in front of the window.
There was a large fridge in the hall with free cooled water, this was excellent!
Breakfast was very italian, only sweet cakes, could be improvable with more fruits...
There was no service at breakfast, but we didn't care too much, because there was a very family and relaxed atmosphere and the friendlyness of the managemet made up for everything.
You should come here by car, because there is not too much to do in the little town, but a lot in the area, Montefalco, Assisi, Spoleto, waterfalls, nature...

I booked this hotel because on the internet they said they had air conditioning. On the customer notes I stated I demandend efficient air conditioning. At the arrival I found there was no cimatization and the outside temperature was 35 celsius. They said they gave me a fresh room. At 20:00 it was still impossible to stay in. I had to find a new hotel on the fly and had no choice to tell them because the reception was everytime empty. I told them I had to leave the next morning and they immediately charged my credit card for two full days. No way to have my money back.
I was convinced by the positive reviews, but found that they are about the preceding administration, now there are these new people: always out of the office, all smiles but no aswer to a customer problem and immediate charging with no money back.
I felt this was a fraud because they charged me for a service that was different from the one I booked and that also I never used.

Dear Customer, a good Italian, as coming from Turin writes in English? okay I reply in English:
We are sorry for your problem, but I think that his complaints should be directed to expedia.com, as your reservation was not made directly to us! You have all his reasons for a failure of a portal world but at least the courage to says that in Italian, Turin is Italy is not it?

Rooms were comfortable and relatively large for Italy....
The town is isolated and quiet - best to have a car to stay here. The breakfast was excellent, with homemade pastries. The breakfast host sent along a delicious cake (for our travels) when we checked out of the hotel. The best part of the hotel is the ancient paintings on the walls and ceilings - it was a real Convent!
