Agriturismo B&B Gallo Nero
Ranked #1 of 6 Mestrino B&B and Inns
Reviewed 2 September 2012

Judging by the comments in the visitors book and on this site there have been few if any Brits to Gallo Nero. High time you stayed here - you don’t know what you’re missing! Great B&B accommodation, well appointed, comfortable rooms with air con and a lovely pool. Good breakfast with a wide choice and even some of Girolamo’s wine if you are really lucky! Very good location for exploring the Po Valley, the Euganean Hills and of course Venice, which is best reached by train from the station just a couple of Km away.
Lots of useful tourist information available but by far the best was by word of mouth from our hosts Ruth, Girolamo, Kimberley and Francesco. They all spoke perfect English so no communication problems and great conversation about everything! You get so much more out of a visit when you can communicate fully with the ‘locals’ – it was fascinating to hear the true Italian perspective on everything.
They provided all the practical information you could possibly want and local knowledge, including great tips for excursions, eating out and especially Venice.
The Mario family couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful and made us feel very much ‘at home’.
Thank you for a very enjoyable and memorable stay.

We checked out yesterday morning after staying at Gallo Nero with our two teenage girls for 4 nights. The barn is beautifual and clean. All the linens and towels were crisp white and a pleasure to use. The breakfast was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We were given lots of information on how to find places and other tips for the local area. The pool was superb for the girls for swimming in the morning and for cooling down in when we got back to the BB at tea time. There was an ample supply of bottled water for us to drink at any time and for taking out with us in the car. Our hosts even allowed our girls to use their packs of playing cards for them to use in the car. They are truly lovely people and we would stay there again

Room Tip: The large room we stayed in is very big and has a beautiful en-suite and overlooks the pool and the...

We spent the first week of August at Gallo Nero and were very pleased and truly impressed!!!. Everything was perfect! Great location, excellent breakfast (the prosciutto and homemade bread to die for!!!) and the hosts were wonderful !! Ruth, Girolamo, with their daughter Kimberley were extremely welcoming and so helpful with their travel tips and restaurant suggestions. The house is beautiful; the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Their pool is very well-kept and quite appreciated after a long hot day touring the so many interesting cities around the region. Thank you so much to the Mario family for making our stay so special! Keep us the good work!

This is absolutely a beautiful B&B, great location to visit Venice by train, but also Padova, Verona and Vicenza are in very close range. Very nice breakfast with homemade bread and cake and Italian coffee. The hosts Ruth and Mario are extremely helpful and nice people and their daughter gave us lots of tips for our visit to Venice. Nice and very well kept pool.

Our family of five (with 3 kids) stayed at Gallo Nero and had a delightful experience for four days. The location between Padua and Vicenza is very convenient for visits to both and to Venice as well. It seems off the beaten track but is actually very well connected to the main roads. The house has been beautifully restored to make for a very comfortable stay. The tastefully decorated common areas have numerous farm implements from a bygone era and historical photos. Ruth, Girolamo and their son were terrific hosts: welcoming, very helpful and a font of great information. We followed their advice on getting places and on the local restaurants including the wonderful Pedrocchino. Thanks, Mario family!

We were referred to this wonderful B & B located between Padova and Vicenza, Italy, by some good friends. We were not disappointed. Our room was very large and very clean, just like home. The owners, Ruth and Girolamo, were the perfect hosts. They were both interested in our travels and we had many enjoyable conversations during our stay. They treated us like family, even driving us to the local train station so that we could visit Venice with ease. Our breakfast was the best we had in Italy, fresh and tasty! They have an outdoor pool, but it was too early in the season to use. We will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Italy.

Staying at the Gallo Nero agritourismo, outside Venice, was ideal for beginning our trip to Venice.

The property is located about 15 minutes drive from the local train station, and our hosts—Giralamo and Ruth Mario—were totally helpful, providing directions to the station, ticket information, and printing schedules for us. Ruth and Giro both speak perfect English. Their B &B is lovely, the rooms are comfortable, and their breakfasts are just fabulous! Giro and Ruth also gladly provided us with Internet connections during our stay.

Gallo Nero was the first stop during our recent 13-day trip to Italy. We could not have had more accommodating hosts. Kudos to Ruth and Giro.
