A Hiddent GEM! This was the 3rd stop on our 3 week honeymoon through Italy. We decided to take a short 2 night side trip on our journey from Venice to the Amalfi Coast to see the small hill town of Calitri (about an hour from Naples) where my great grandmother was born. We stayed 2 nights at The Hotel Ambasciatori and were most pleasantly surprised with the facilities and the beautiful town with breathtaking views. Having never been to Calitri or any of the smaller towns in Italy we had no idea what to expect. From the time we made our booking and got great service and guidance from Vito, to the time we arrived to a warm greeting from the manager, Giusseppe, to the *amazing* meals we enjoyed from Adrian the world class chef -- this short 2 night stay ended up being one of the high points of our entire Italian trip. The hotel was immaculately clean, the rooms were simple but lovely and spacious and ours had an incredible view. We were also just a short walk to 'Old Town' Calitri where we enjoyed a simply spectacular tour of the Castle Borgo (as if there already weren't enough panoramic views to delight in, the views from the castle simply topped everything!). We found the town residents to be friendly and welcoming too. We cannot say enough about the warmth and hospitality displayed by all the hotel staff! Again, the communication, the welcome, and the personal service were outstanding and the price was incredibly reasonable and well worth every penny. You simply must have dinner here to experience Adrian's expertise in the kitchen--we felt like we had our own personal chef at each meal--and we did! There is also a fantastic pool that is very well maintained and also offers magnificent views. We simply could not have been happier with our stay at Hotel Amasciatori and would *HIGHLY* recommend it to anyone traveling in the area or anyone who simply wants a beautiful, relaxing treat of a getaway! Thank you to the whole staff (especially Vito, Giusseppe & Adrian) for making our stay so memorable and enjoyable!
