“Disappointing”
Reviewed 12 April 2012

Visited this pub with friends after a trip to Hengrave Hall just down the road. Three of us ordered burgers which were very nice. The pub made a really big deal about its choice of home made pies of numerous varieties. The chicken and ham pie was described to my friend as a home made pie in a dish, with a choice of chips, veggies etc. He was expecting the pie to be quite big as it had been described to him so didn't order veggies, just chips. When it arrived it was the last piece of a big pie, with some sorry looking chips on the side! The minute it arrived we all knew it wasn't going to be good. He said the pastry was horrible, the filling was rubbish and considering the fuss the pub makes about their pies it in no way measured up to his expectations or what had been described to him. It was very disappointing and if the staff had really thought about it when it was served up they would have seen how unpleasant it was going to be for the customer, but they served it up anyway! If they're going to make a big deal about their pies they need to do better than this.

“sunday Lunch?”
Reviewed 22 November 2011

We booked a table for 1 of the sittings and was shown to the back room where it is very grubby.
There is mould and flaking plaster on the walls. The tables are jam packed with hardly any room to move.
The lunch was a dreadful concoction of frozen carrots and peas.Cauliflower cheese that was undercooked and the sauce was a starchy white sauce. The roast potatoes were frozen not fresh. The gravy was pale and starchy .The same gravy for poultry and beef.
This is not worth £10 a plate. Bring on Wetherspoons at least you get what you pay for.
Will never eat there again.
