“Fabulous”
Reviewed 13 November 2013

This was a great tour. The staff at Mama Lucia is very friendly and knowledgeable. The discussion of the history of tequila and the description of how it is made was very informative. The opportunity to taste various varieties and compare and contrast them (blanco, reposado, anejo) added to the educational experience - in addition to being quite enjoyable! I highly recommend visiting this location if you are in Puerto Vallarta. We visited as part of a tour group with Travelex (which we paid for), but I understand that it is possible to visit the distillery on your own for no fee. I do not believe it is very far from Puerto Vallarta (approximately 30-45 minutes or so). We also bought several bottles of tequila; they were wrapped perfectly for air travel. Highly recommended.

“Very Informative”
Reviewed 30 August 2013

We were staying at the Marival Resort in Nuevo Vallarta and we took a taxi to the Mama Lucia tequila distillery. My girlfriend and I were the only ones on the tour and we had a very fun time learning about the distillation process and tasting their eight different tequilas. It was well worth the trip.

“A "Taste" of Puerto Vallarta”
Reviewed 21 May 2013

We recently did a shore excursion that included a tequila tasting at this distillery. The presentation was very informative and the tasting was excellent! They gave us eight different tequilas to sample and many were surprisingly good. The flavored tequilas were our favorites and we purchased four bottles to bring home. This distillery is family owned and does not produce a large enough quantity to export. It was a very good way to learn about the agave plant and how it is used to make a very fresh tequila without adding a bunch of extra chemicals. We would highly recommend this tour!

“Great tour”
Reviewed 16 February 2013

Taking the city tour of Puerto Vallarta, we had the fortune to visit Mama Lucia distillery. Very informative and the tasting was great. Left buying 4 bottles perfectly wrapped to endure our flight back home. Lots of laughter by everyone, I would highly recommend this tour.

“We enjoyed our tour!!!!”
Reviewed 8 December 2012

Four of us -- all Canadians from Manitoba -- drove to Mama Lucia as we were informed through a Puerto Vallarta message board they sold almond tequila. There were about 8 other people in our group, who were from Colorado.
Pancho gave us the tour, and was very informative and entertaining.
We were able to taste several different grades of tequila, along with flavored tequila.
Pancho knew what amounts of alcohol could be taken back to Canada.
We really enjoyed ourselves, and would highly recommend this tour.
