“Unlikely Gem”

A cornucopia of maritime history dating back hundreds of years including many naval artifacts. The building itself spans three floors and has been sympathetically restored with some of the original 12th century architecture intact. The people there giving verbal information (who I assume were volunteers) were very enthusiastic about their subject. Even disabled facilities with lift! Well worth the admission cost.

Just one of those places that you have to keep visiting. There is always something to see that you have missed the last time.

“Full of interest”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Have lived in Shoreham all my life, and appreciate all the volunteers that keep this museum going.

My first visit for many years as I was showing my visiting relatives the sights of the town.

There was a good exhibition ( temporary) by a local artist as well as a wonderful array of exhibits on the history of this ancient town. The volunteers manning the museum were very friendly, and I was impressed by their knowledge and attitude, very helpful. My visitors were also impressed. Sadly we run out of time, but I will return again.

“local conservationists do a good job”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

lovely museume. staff full of local knowledge and very friendly. There was an exhibition by local people on the Widewater area which was very interesting. If you are a lover of ships and the sea the bottom floor is full of it. It is worth the small amount to pay as this is run by local volunteers keeping a very old building in use.
