“Dog Friendly on the Cotswolds Way”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014 via mobile

Pleasant welcome from accommodating hosts. A little difficult to find as it's set back off the road. Room was basic but pleasant with views into the delightful garden. Not en- suite but private use of adjoining bathroom and toilet. Excellent breakfast with some home made produce such as Honey and Marmalade. Welcome advice on a short cut back onto Cotswolds Way. Local pub is a bit unreliable for food but other great options a short Taxi away. We shared and dined with other guests and had a wonderful evening.

I was accorded a warm welcome by my hosts, which was much appreciated as I was very tired having walked 18 miles (reading on my GPS) that day. A lovely cottage, and a great room with en-suite bathroom. Sunday is a problem in King's Stanley as the local pub does not do meals. But I was driven to an excellent hostelry in a nearby village, and collected after my meal. A good breakfast and I was provided with informed local knowledge on route back to Cotswolds Way!! Many thanks

We were warmly welcomed after a long walk on The Cotswold Way, and shown to our lovely twin room. Although there's no TV in the room, it doesn't matter as there's free wifi. We purchased dinner at the local Chinese place and bought it back and ate in the dining room. Breakfast was cooked to order and lovely ( loved the homemade honey). The cat was given free range of the kitchen and its bench tops which for me, not a cat lover, was slightly off putting whilst meals were being prepared. But other than that, we enjoyed our stay in Kings Stanley.

While walking the Cotswold Way we stayed one night at Orchardene. Our room was spacious and had a lovely hot shower which was really a treat to have after walking all day. Upon arrival we were given freshly made tea and cake and invited to sit outside in their back garden. Our hosts were very friendly and informative about their village. It was suggested that rather than eating at the local pub we get a take out meal from the local Chinese restaurant and eat in their garden. They provided hot plates and utensils so we had a lovely meal outside. Breakfast was made to order and very good. Definitely a lovely place to stay.

Part of our group stayed here while hiking the Cottswold Way. Orchardene is a small B&B, and the experience is liking staying in the spare room at the home of a British relative (and that's a good thing!). The innkeepers were very nice and helpful and the breakfast was locally sourced and excellent. We really enjoyed our stay and it was a nice change from the larger hotels and inns where we were staying on our hike. The only negative is the lack of a decent restaurant in town; the nearby pub was awful. Nonetheless, we highly recommend Orchardene.

We arrived cold, sodden and very muddy on a dark Sunday evening after having walked 17 miles from Birdlip. Lesley and Tom could not have been more welcoming. We took of our wet and filthy clothes and Lesley immediately put them in the washing machine. Our boots were placed in front of the Aga in the kitchen to dry out, and we sat and dried out in front of the wood-burning stove. If booked in advance, Lesley will cook s two-course evening meal – and it was delicious; one of the best veggie lasagnes I have ever tasted, and a fantastic rhubarb crumble. The bedroom was comfortable, and although there is no TV in the bedroom, we really didn’t miss it at all because Lesley and Tom are great hosts so it was a real pleasure talking with them. A great, friendly place to stay on the Cotswold Way, and very much geared to walkers.

Picked this B & B up from Tripadvisor, as the reviews were very good. I must say that we were not disappointed. The owners were very welcoming and informative about the local area. Breakfasts were delicious. My wife particularly liked their honey and home made marmalade. I would recommend this B & B to anyone wanting to visit the Cotswolds.
