My family and I went here last week and it was lovely. I had the smoked salmon starter, beef for main and coffee panacotta for desert, all of which was presented beautifully and tasted excellent. There is a large variation of meals to choose from, not so much for vegetarians, but all the food is cooked fresh to order and eventhough this could cause delays, the food was brought out within a decent time and we weren't rushed to leave once we had finished our meal which was nice. The skill of the chefs is to be complimented also, some of the food that was served looked very impressive and obviously required a high level of skill to do! The atmosphere was good and the staff were friendly and all looked smart. Would recommend and would definitely eat here again!

Robert Reid has a deserved reputation locally for running efficient places and delivering reliably good food. He did it at The White Horse, Empingham; Barnsdale Lodge Hotel; and is doing it at Toft Hotel and now The Jackson Stops. He always provides a warm, personal welcome in what is a lovely, quirky village pub just off the A1. It has always had a good reputation for food and Robert has taken it on to continue that tradition. The menu isn't overly imaginative; the food is good without being exceptional but if you fancy a drive out to a cosy village pub that does good quality food - give it a go. I had lamb as a main course, which was a tad overdone for me - but not worth complaining about. It all feels slightly formulaic but maybe that is part and parcel of being so consistently efficient. The beers and wines also provide a lovely complement for the food offering. Give it a go....

The Jackson stops has a good reputation, which it deserves. We visited for lunch and enjoyed finding a lunch menu which included more than burgers and steak. The braised beef I ate was exceptional, despite finding some plastic in the dish I still enjoyed it and the staff made a suitable gesture with the bill at the end. The coffee parfait dessert was nice but lacked any contrast, there was too much coffee. A contrasting component would have made it better. My wife said she could not fault her meal.

We had a 70th Birthday lunch in a private room for 14 of us.
All the food was freshly cooked to order, well presented and served promptly
Great Value,
We were there for over two hours and were not hurried to leave, most enjoyable, and will be returning very soon.
The Inn is within .5 of a mile from the A1 in the stone village of Stretton, easy to find and no problem parking.

Four of us had a very pleasant meal here on a Friday night. We were all perfectly happy with our starters and main courses and there was an extensive wine list. Not a great range of draught beers but this didn't cause a problem. A good experience at the top end of the gastro pub price range but they will have to keep a close eye on the competition as within a few miles they now have serious rivals!
