“Great for airport stay over”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

Stayed here for one night as we had a flight to Athens the next morning, and hotel is absolute ideal for this as you can walk directly in to the terminal.
Rooms are spotless and spacious, and also comfortable, and the choice at breakfast is excellent.
Only downside, as another reviewer highlighted, is the cosy of the evening meals. We ate in the steak house, and although the food and service were wonderful, they definitely weren't worth the prices charged.
Staff are fantastic and extremely helpful throughout the hotel, and would definitely stay again (although would eat elsewhere only because of the cost).

We booked the hotel as we had an early flight. The location was very good, only a few minutes walk from the terminal. Our room was clean and well appointed. We thought the food and drink throughout the hotel was way too expensive. We had booked a triple room and were given a double bed and a child's bed. My daughter who is 5 foot 9 had to go in the child's bed and I shared with my granddaughter. The AC unit was very noisy. We would use the hotel again but would insist on the triple room next time.

Dear AdeleLeger,

Thank you very much for providing us your feedback following your recent stay. I regret we didn’t provide you with a stay up to your expectations. We only have two types of triple rooms – twin room with the extra rollaway bed or one double bed with an extra bed.
We are pleased that hotel’s location was convenient for you and hope to welcome you again in the future.

We flew from stanstead late august 2014 and thought we would stay here for an early flight.

I think we were a bit unfortunate because we got an Italian check in girl who never listened and gave the clear impression that she refused to listen. Therefore we got a room overlooking the runway when we asked "please can we have a room overlooking the car park not the run way" and my partner had to go back after an extremely long walk to the room because the electronic key didn't work. We paid for an upgrade and there wasn't any dressing grounds in the room nor breakfast request forms so we had to ring up to request. Also the nespresso was clearly not cleaned for ages as it wasn't working properly as it couldn't penetrate the pods to dispense the coffee.

We enjoyed the pool and spa which was lovely and food and service at the American grill was great.

The worst was the pillows though. Far too small and uncomfortable which really spoilt our nights sleep.

The toiletries, films (free with upgrade) and room temperature were good though as was the shower.

For £91 per night not a bad stay but wouldn't rush back and would consider other options depending on flight time.

We booked the Radisson Blu for its location - it is just so wonderfully close to Stansted Airport, a short (covered) walk away..it was our first visit and our first impressions were that it was amazing. Staff were friendly and helpful..our room was really lovely - so you may well ask why I only gave an "average" rating..well, it was because we both had the worst nights sleep ever - and the little culprits were the pillows!!! - usually in hotels they have a couple of large pillows with smaller decorative pillows in front of them - well this time we ONLY had the decorative pillows, or that's what it felt like anyway..we had three small spongy pillows each - and I mean SMALL - no feathers or down or anything inside..what felt like sponge..neither of us could get to sleep..we tried sleeping without any pillows without success..what a shame...it spoiled our otherwise good impression of this hotel. Would we go back? only if they decided to go down The Hilton route and put feather and down or goose feather filled pillows in their rooms.

great location, just off the motorway and walking distance to the airport. we are a fan of Radisson Blu especially airport locations would definitely recommend. The New York Grill is a great place to eat fantastic steak and great wine. Plus the cocktails in the bar are fantastic - only downside all lager no real ale for my husband!!

We stayed in this Hotel through Omega Travel, for the Rugby League Challenge cup final, we only stayed one night.

Upon arrival we (along with the rest of the people from the coaches) had to get into queues inline with the first letter of our surname, this process was pretty quick and efficient, then we went into our rooms via the 3 lifts (there were stairs of course), which were nice, very clean, the TV was set up for us to use straight away with a easy to read manual on what's free and what's not, the rooms have a easy to use air con machine as well, although on full power this is pretty loud, i don't mind that, but some people might want to turn it down, the bathroom had a bath and shower unit in one which was spotless and the usual complimentary shower gels and small vanity kits etc.

the Hotel has free Wi-fi, which was a bonus! be careful though, if you want to log onto a website, you have to wait for the screen to confirm your room number and surname, this took a while on my phone, so it could be my phone not playing, the speeds on the Wi-fi were 28meg d/l and 17 u/l... not too shabby at all.

We bought drinks from the bar in the middle of the foyer the prices for beer were what we expected i believe it was £4.65 for a pint of Budweiser... BUT the prices for soft drinks were extortionate, £2.65 for a tiny bottle of Diet coke and £4.95 for a pint of normal coke, guess that's where the money is made.

Now onto the food, our meal was included in our prices for the Rugby Trip, so i wasn't personally expecting that much, we ate in the Essex Lounge (i think that is what it was called) there were buffet containers on both sides of the room, the starters were a strange combination of Potato/pasta salads, bread and a selection of deli meats, whilst these wern't disgusting, they wernt really my cup of tea, the mains were:
Chicken and veg curry, which was tasty
Chinese style pork with chinese vegetables, the pork was cooked to perfection and was very tender, but was lacking in flavour,
White rice, nothing to describe here, it was just rice
Mixed Veg (green bean, cauliflower, Asparagus and carrot), this was bog standard but cooked well
New boiled potatoes, as you would expect.
And some sort of Ravioli, this was tender and tasty.

Then there was deserts, obviously i had to try them all :)
Black forest gateaux, which was nice and flavoursome
two types of "cheesecake" there was a white one and a chocolate one, the white one just tasted creamy, but wasn't spectacular, the chocolate one was a little bitter and tart, but not unpleasent.
There was a strawberry cake also but this came out after i had eaten so i didn't try any, it got some rave reviews from the people i was there with.

Breakfast was a standard affair too, in the same room same layout, with cereals, tea coffee, orange juice, cranberry juice, bacon, sausage, eggs etc etc, i didn't have any of this but it looked lovely and again was complimented by the group who did eat it.

If i was every in the vicinity, i would more than likely use this hotel again.

We chose the Radisson Blu Hotel at Stansted Airport as being a convenient location to visit this part of the country (Imperial War Museum; Audley End; Saffron Walden) and also to experience the Radisson Blu brand as we had not used it previously.

The location close to the M11 was good, and finding the hotel (by following signs for Stansted Airport) was fairly easy. There was a charge for parking in an area that was not very convenient for loading/unloading luggage, particularly when it was raining. A second entrance to the hotel nearer the car park would have been an advantage.

Our standard room (1115) was large and very comfortable, and had a very large bed. The room was well-designed with a number of thoughtful touches including a fridge, an ironing board and iron, and a safe large enough to take a laptop. There was a good (free) Wi-Fi system and the TV had an extensive array of channels. Tea/coffee making facilities were provided though the kettle was missing on arrival. The bathroom was also well designed, though the shower was weak. A rather strange lounger was provided when an easy chair would have been preferable. Overall, a pleasant room for a four night stay.

We enjoyed an excellent breakfast each morning that provided an extensive buffet which included some excellent bread and croissants. The members of staff at breakfast were very efficient and pleasant, particularly the persons acting as greeter. A selection of newspapers was available to diners.

We only had one evening meal at the hotel, dining in Filini’s – an Italian themed restaurant. The food was good but the service slow – it appeared that there was insufficient staff for a full restaurant. The staff were not as friendly as those at breakfast – this contrast was particularly marked in the case of the greeter. The cost of the meal was on the high side, as is typical of airport hotels.

The reception/lounge/bar/restaurant area was large and pleasantly light. Both checking-in and checking-out were handled efficiently by friendly staff. We were fortunate to check-in just prior to a coach party that formed a long queue.

A partly covered walkway provided a convenient access to the airport, where there were a few eating facilities. During our stay, we were not disturbed by any noise from the adjacent airport.
Overall, we enjoyed an excellent stay at the Radisson Blu and our intention is to use this brand again when flying from Manchester Airport.
