“Cozy Living in a Lovely Town”
Reviewed 28 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

This little chateau in the middle of picturesque Forges les Eaux proved the perfect place to settle down for a weekend. The kitchen was light and summery, despite the rain outside, and had everything a home chef could wish for. The living room, with it's floor-ceiling windows was incredibly comfortable, and made staying in seem like just as good an option as venturing out. The town of Forges, itself, was lovely, with an open air market, multiple and very good bakeries, and a nearby lake and forested area which made for wonderful walks. All in all, a great weekend both inside the house and out.

“Lovely big characterful house in a great location”

This is the third time we have stayed here with a mixture of adults and children and it is beginning to feel like home. High ceilings, tall shutters, generously proportioned rooms, ahuge cosy kitchen diner which can easily accomodate 8 at the table while the cooking is being done. We spent much of our time here in spite of the comfortable lounge with its open fire. Plenty of room to play with the kids or to escape them. The children love exploring the three floors, the cellar and the garden.
There is a big bathroom on the first floor and a good shower on the second floor. The kitchen is well equipped and there are books and games to while away the evenings. There is also a small TV with English programs.
The house is right in the middle of the quaint market town with a choice of 4 or 5 boulangeries and charcuteries within a 5 minute walk. There is also a wide chice of places to eat. The town is a really good base from which to explore a relatively untouristy region - beautiful half timbered villages, ancient market towns, chateaux, the beautiful city of Rouen, Dieppe and the coast ,
Dont expect perfection, this is a house that works, not a show home and some of the furniture shows signs of wear. Do expect to be comfortable and relaxed.
We have already booked our next stay.

“Normandie retreat”
Reviewed 30 July 2012 for a stay in April 2012

We had a great time. La Farfollerie is a large comfortable property in the centre of the town. The town has several shops, bakeries and a couple of bars, in walking distance and is small and quiet- so makes for a peaceful and relaxing stay.

There are all the local culinary specialities one would expect from a French holiday, so we were happy to dine in as the town is very quiet in the evenings.

The beds are comfortable and the master bedroom has a large stylish ensuite.
There is a small rear garden which catches the morning sun and is perfect for taking breakfast outside.

The surrounding area is perfect for cycling, walking and outdoor activities.

Overall La Farfollerie is a great place to relax, unwind and acquaint yourself with Normandie.
