We stayed two nights and wished we had more time. The owner, Benedict, was so nice and welcoming. She spoke English and helped us with our very poor French.
She offered us drinks when we arrived around 5pm and light snacks. She also gave us restaurant ideas which one was right in Olonzac and one of the best meals we had in our 8 day trip to France.
She had called ahead to several site sighting venues to make sure they were open since we were visiting during non-tourist season. (March-April 2012) Gave us directions to areas markets, winery, olive factory and beaches just within an hour from Olonzac. There's allot of things to see and do. Love the area. Minerve, France, is a most see. This was also a recommendation from our host.
The rooms were big, clean and comfortable. Hot pot for making tea along with several choices of tea in the room. The grounds of Maison Eloi Merle are beautiful, lots of space to walk around, didn't have time to use the pool but it looked great.
The breakfast was delicious, many choices, had eggs one day. Fresh local bread and croissants, yogurt, fresh fruit, homemade jams, local ham and cheeses. It was lovely. Plenty to eat and drink.
The price was reasonable, Benedict went out of her way to make our trip even more special. This is a gem in a small lovely town. We wished we had more time to explore the town of Olonzac and the area around it. The people were so nice.
If you have any doubt don't...Maison Eloi Merle was a Hi-light of our trip.
