We stayed two nights and wished we had more time. The owner, Benedict, was so nice and welcoming. She spoke English and helped us with our very poor French.
She offered us drinks when we arrived around 5pm and light snacks. She also gave us restaurant ideas which one was right in Olonzac and one of the best meals we had in our 8 day trip to France.
She had called ahead to several site sighting venues to make sure they were open since we were visiting during non-tourist season. (March-April 2012) Gave us directions to areas markets, winery, olive factory and beaches just within an hour from Olonzac. There's allot of things to see and do. Love the area. Minerve, France, is a most see. This was also a recommendation from our host.
The rooms were big, clean and comfortable. Hot pot for making tea along with several choices of tea in the room. The grounds of Maison Eloi Merle are beautiful, lots of space to walk around, didn't have time to use the pool but it looked great.
The breakfast was delicious, many choices, had eggs one day. Fresh local bread and croissants, yogurt, fresh fruit, homemade jams, local ham and cheeses. It was lovely. Plenty to eat and drink.
The price was reasonable, Benedict went out of her way to make our trip even more special. This is a gem in a small lovely town. We wished we had more time to explore the town of Olonzac and the area around it. The people were so nice.
If you have any doubt don't...Maison Eloi Merle was a Hi-light of our trip.

Stayed at the Eloi Merle last month - 1 night in the B&B and 3 nights in their one-bed gites. Lovely atmospheric accommodation - old winemakers house in small winemaking town. It has a gorgeous tree -filled garden - a rarity in these parts - and a swimming pool for residents.

Owner very accommodating as we turned up unannounced, and allowed us to put our car in her garage - not the norm. The whole place has a relaxed but efficient air. We also had a brilliant breakfast the first morning - fresh bread, fruit, etc as well as some hot food options. Have visited some years ago but as good as ever ( 65euros B&B, 70euros in Gite (3 days minimum I think - but well equipped and comfortable)

House is right in the heart of the small town - bars and some eating places nearby - but quiet and tranquil.

I'm sure we will return again.

Room Tip: Gites are in the garden so very quiet - some of rooms overlook the town, which can be a bit noisier...

The town of Olonzac was very pleasant - lots of ritired brits and Americans sipping coffee and red wine in the town cafes! We were on a cycling holiday and stayed at Eloi Merle after our ascent of Minerve town which was also very interesting. Eloi Merle is full of character a real insight into the past of old town houses and large gardens but does have the luxury of a swimming pool and jacuzzi. The owner is lovely and serves delicious home made jams for breakfast. This place is a real treat but get a room at the back facing the garden to avoid road noise at the front. She has converted the barns into 5 small gites which add to the diversity of whats on offer here. Best B&B on the trip!

Very nice chambre d'hote in a large house, almost entirely open for the guests. The owners are very friendly and hospitable. Large garden with nice swimming pool. (a bit shallow, so not for divers)

At the Eloi Merle for a friend's wedding in Olonzac: the hotel is charming, clean, well cared for and very good value for money. We had a large comfortable room at the rear of the main house, with a small shower room -- other rooms are also spacious, and each one different. The hotel also has a small number of gites. Breakfast is taken outside in fine weather, on the edge of a shaded garden, which has a swimming pool to one side for relaxation in the sun. The owners of the hotel are very hospitable and considerate, and made our stay at the hotel very enjoyable. The hotel and Olonzac are good bases for exploring the local vineyards, and the Canal du Midi, beaches and open country are in easy reach. Highly recommended.

We stayed here one night and the war m welcome more than made up for the slighlty run down nature of the old mansion. The rooms are huge, with a couch and chairs, and a kettle and selection of tea and other hot drinks. The owner is lovely - very helpful, friendly and warm.

The grounds of the mansion are gorgeous and there is a good sized pool and a hottub. The breakfast was good, served at a single table so you mingle with the other guests.

Olonzac is a great town, very good for bikeriding (lots of little roads to picture perfect villages) - I recommend MellowVelo just down the road in Paraza.

There are many good restaurants in Olonzac - le Bon Table for pizza and the Brasserie des Sports has a VERY good lunch menu (10 euros for entree, plat, dessert, cafe and quart du vin) - we had it twice and both times the meal was excellent.
