We visited on Saturday morning to buy wines to take home , two young woman were behind the desk when we walked in . No-one spoke so we smiled and greeted them first. We walked around looking at the different wines and descriptions, but were not asked if we would like help/ to taste any . Eventually we took a dozen bottles to the desk, were given a price and paid : all this without eye contact , and not even ‘Au revoir’ or ‘ Bonne journee’ when we left . French people are usually most hospitable and polite, but we were made to almost unwelcome.
