I fell in love with The Grange as soon as i parked up, Su was welcoming and incredibly helpful from start to finish. The accomodation and facilities were perfect in every way and we didn't want to leave.
My team and I stayed here for a team bonding event, we used The Grange for some fun activites such as Bubble football and a cocktail making class and did a great half day activity package at Henley Hillbillies which is 20mins drive away.
Every member of the team wants to come back again and we will certainly book another visit in soon. If you want to use all the facilities I'd recommend staying a minimum of 3 days.
I booked the Grange for a family party of 20 for 2 nights. The first night with just family and then a mixture of friends joining us on the 2nd night. This house has it all, friendly family feel with a serious glamour and space that gives any party a boost. The rooms are havens of peace and comfort with just the right amount of home and away to make you feel special. If you are looking for the ultimate escape to the country and need a house with something for everyone of all ages, this is your house!
Five families gathered for our annual New Year celebrations. We have stayed in many different houses and this one was absolutely one of the best. The manager was extremely professional, welcoming and could not have done more to help. All our questions were answered immediately. The house is beautifully decorated and has such a homely feel. We had ten teenagers in the group who loved the amenities as did the adults. We would definitely return.
We rented this beautiful home for Christmas with our extended family. We live in California so all I could really go on were reviews and photographs. It did not disappoint! The booking process was easy and the housekeeper was both helpful and responsive to all our questions (and delightful to meet in person too). The photographs were accurate and the amenities were first class. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas and was super warm throughout, despite freezing weather outside. It was cosy, luxurious and honestly, felt like home. With 3 generations, there was something for everyone and we used every room, from the snooker tournaments and ping pong battles to the newspapers by the fire and watching movies in the theatre, everyone agreed it was the best house we have rented. After the extended family left, family friends arrived for a party. The housekeeper and her team did a wonderful job organizing linen changes and bathrooms cleans for the new incoming guests. The housekeeper also organized kitchen help for one of the dinners in the elegant dining room so it truly felt like a vacation. We have rented large houses in the UK for Christmas many times and expect a high standard - this was definitely one of the most lovely, well appointed houses we have stayed in. It was very clean and the kitchen had masses of everything, from glasses and mugs to kitchen appliances and dinner services. Its gardens were really beautiful and although we only saw them in winter, one can only imagine how spectacular they are in spring and summer. The village of Horsington is very small and picturesque and the traditional pub, the Half Moon, is delightful and walkable. We highly recommend this wonderful property and hope to return soon.
Following a great weekend with friends celebrating a 50th birthday. I realised I’d left behind a precious unopened bottle of vintage Port (very old!) On confirmation that the manageress had it safe in her care, we were very relieved.
While randomly passing the house a while later (we live in London) we called to see if we could drop in & collect the bottle... we were coldly told that it was not convenient & that was that! We tried to get more local friends to arrange the collection, but alas to no avail.
We are gutted about the port, but that is just Port (Although pretty special!) It was the cold, abrasive & unhelpful attitude of the manageress which left us aghast. She couldn’t wait to get my wife off the phone & didn’t offer any suggestions of how she could help us. This left us very disappointed & has tainted the idea of us ever using the house again. A real shame.
We had an amazing time for our weekend at The Grange celebrating my mothers 70th birthday. We had everything we needed and more. The house was beautiful with large grand bedrooms which were beautifully furnished and the gardens were sprawling yet picturesque with pear trees and beautiful flowers. There was so much for us to do, I think next time we will have to stay for a week to make sure we do everything! There was tennis and horse riding for people who wanted to be sporty and then swimming pool and jacuzzi for the rest who wanted to relax. The Grange put us in touch with caterers (Kim) and organised horse riding for us - both were exceptionally high standard. We couldn't have had a more perfect weekend for everyone and were made to feel very welcome.
The Grange is located in the pretty village of Horsington, Somerset handy for all our family members to meet within a few hours drive, It was as spacious and stunning as the photos and exceeded all of our expectations. A perfect holiday house with plenty of indoor and outdoor facilities to entertain 3 generations of family ( 19 of us in total) We were only sorry that we were not staying longer ! The house was big enough for us all .Beautiful gracious and welcoming formal rooms captured a sense of history and cosy spacious kitchen with fantastic light conservatory provided great communal spaces . The perfect gardens and pool area, complimented the house perfectly. We wish we had more time to play 5 -aside football and tennis too , or just sit and look at the garden , We would love to return ...
