“Beautiful house, large, spacious and well equipped base for exploring the area”

Webbs Retreat is a fantastic base for exploring this area of Cornwall. The house itself is set within part of a small quiet "holiday village" with the surrounding houses all also built from the beautiful stone. The 'village' is remote, and the whole area is really well looked after. It is only a short walk to the Point were there is a restaurant, Health Center including a pool and a golf course. It is also only a 25 minute walk to Polzeath.

The house itself is extremely well equipped with everything we could have possibly needed for the week stay including a washing machine, iron, clothes airer inside and washing line outside, every type of kitchen utensil you could think of, free wifi etc. The garden is private, enclosed and a lovely place to sit in the sun or BBQ. The 5 bedrooms are spacious, with comfortable beds and each has it's own ensuite bathroom. The downstairs living area is generous, with a large kitchen with enough seats for 10 around the dining table, and a large living room with a sun room at the end with additional seats.

I would highly recommend staying at Webbs Retreat.

We were lucky with the weather all week, and as a result did a lot in the area. I would highly recommend any or all of the following and most have their own trip advisor pages for more info:

- Polzeath to Rock walk (this is a cliff top walk but a route that is accessible for prams/wheelchairs) and took over an hour but we did stop for lots of photographs and headed down to one of the beaches. In Rock, we then caught the ferry for cream tea in Padstow. The ferry was £4 and worth it, you can walk across when the tide is out but no other way when it's in

- St Nectan's Glen near Tintagel. This was a fantastic find after a recommendation from someone in one of the local shops. It's a walk alongside a Glen, and it is hard work to get to the top (quite steep and lots of steps) but well worth it. When you get to the top, you enter through the café and can pay £4.95 or £5.95 for two different routes to see the waterfalls. This was incredible, sort of magical and we got some great photos of the group right up close to the falls. We then went back up to the café and had lunch, which was reasonably priced.

- Trelauney Garden Center - we spent a good couple of hours here wondering around and had lunch in the café

- Wadebridge, we visited for Tesco, but there was also a food market on the bank holiday Monday. Worth checking how frequent this is.

- Constantine Bay - this is a beautiful beach with fantastic views and colourations and has great trip advisor reviews. We then walked across to Treyarnon beach to find an amazing rock pool area, with one big enough to swim in with some climbing up the rocks to access

- On Friday evenings, the band Fishermans Friends play at Port Isaac (home to filming of Doc Martins) on the little port beach. Everyone gathers and brings their own food/drink or there are pubs and restaurants around to get refreshments from (we had fish and chips) and it's a really lovely atmosphere listening to the live music on the beach.

“Great Location for NW Cornwall”

This estate has been built on the site of old farm buildings. The original farmhouse itself has been fully renovated.

I last stopped at the farmhouse back in 1965. There have been lots of improvements in the area but a couple of things have gone

The property is great for a big family. Room to park three or four cars offroad. Large livingroom with sofas and armchairs and a modern TV.

Beds are comfy and plenty of toilets and showers. It's got most of what you need. Only thing missing is a drying room for wetsuits. (everyone seems to wear wetsuits these days)
The only fault with the whole accommodation is creaky upstairs floorboards. I'm told this will be looked at.

You can book this either directly through the owners from their Webbs Retreat website or through Natural Retreats.

When the estate was built hey put in a fresh access road and built some lakes around the stream. There are picnic tables there for use by residents.

The other nearby farm has been converted to a Golf Course and health and fitness Spa with restuarant, known as the point.

The only downside in 50 years, removal of farming animals has caused bramble to grow around the brook so you can't walk alongside it where the original footpath was. The brook contains eels about a foot long. Almost impossible to catch unless practiced.

I'll be booking to come back here again with family one day.

The only drawback was the Thursday changeover.

Polzeath beach is one of the best and safest surfing beaches I've ever used.
