“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2013 via mobile

Been to a few Zoos in France.. This one is the most interactive one. Also, all the animals seemed well and cared for and most importantly relaxed. The site is hilly so be aware of that, it's accessible with, for example, wheelchairs but I wouldn't want to be the one pushing!

“Great little animal park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 January 2013

Deep in a valley of the Pyrenees we found this great animal park. Not only were the living animals and birds of the region there on display in but also stuffed animals from other ends of the world. The park is situated in a hillside so it is a little hard to walk up all the paths but it is worth every step. The little baby goats which found a hole in the fence to get to us did really make us cheerful.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2012

Went to the parc with family(2 kids 4 and 2 years old) and wife.
The parc is lovely , lots of different animals, bears, wolves, snake, birds etc...
the kids loved it.
If you have a little one make sure you take a baby carry bag to put on your back for carrying during walking ,no pushchairs, its very difficult to push up in the montain.

“Highly interactive park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2012

This is an excellent animal park with a stunning outlook over the valley and the Pyrenees. We were there at opening time and were fortunate to have the park to ourselves for much of our visit. The tour is a one way path through a dozen large sections each of which feature a different group of animals that are native to the area. There were several opportunities to interact with the animals including a marmot feeding, the goats in the farm yard and observing the bears and otters being fed by the handlers. There is a "sportif" walk up a side of a hill for a new open air deer enclosure featuring pyrenee chamois and ibex. The viewpoint was quite stunning from here. The cleanliness and quality of the enclosures was excellent and the staff were very friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

“One of the best animal parks I have ever visited”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 June 2012

If you are visiting Lourdes or the Gave Valley you may be interested in the Parc Animalier des Pyrenees, which is not far from Lourdes.

The park (which was enlarged last year) features animals that are (or would have been) native to the Pyrenees.

The tour starts with Birds, then Otters that play in the water, you will experience free walking roe deer and goats that you can feed.

The park has a website http://www.parc-animalier-pyrenees.com so you can get information about tariffs etc. Allow at least two hours (more if you have children with you) to experience everything this park has to offer.

The park is on the mountain side, it has got well maintained paths, but it is steep for those who are not so able to get about without a scooter or wheelchair. The park also features two collections of stuffed animals, which are actually very well done.

Do not be fooled by expensive excursion companies telling you there is no public service bus going there, because there is. There are two buses going to the animal parc, both operated by Keolis, one is under the name of SNCF (the French railway company) and the other is Ma Ligne des Gaves. You can buy your ticket on board and it is half the excursion price.
