“Great Hotel in the countryside and historic buildings of South Derbyshire”

We required a hotel for our visit to Alton Towers from London and found this hotel searching Google (www.riversidefarmhotel.co.uk). We booked by phone and met Bill who operates the hotel. Bill was kind, checked us in and showed us to our room. I asked what time we had to check out and we were told not to worry. Bill and Sally are lovely people. The rooms are nice and cosy with Freeview and internet which I used and was fast. The room was equipped with refrigerator, hairdryer, shower (shampoo & towels provided). The building is like a country home with a modern design. We were much satisfied with our stay. Excellent service provided. Free parking near the room. 5 minute drive to the shops (there’s a Tesco express in the area) the hotel is located on a country road which is 2 minutes away from the A50. Great!!!

I stayed over for an engagement party that was located in Chelleston, about a 2 minute trip away. Located over the road from an excellent pub that does 2-for-1 on meals and next to a beautiful river with a bridge over it.
The rooms were lovely little converted out-buildings, finished to an excellent standard with modern conveniences, right down to little touches like deodorants, shower gels and even a set of chocolate Twix's which were soon gone!
The reception was warm and friendly from the owner Sally, and she couldn't do more for us, she even offered us a lift up to Chelleston in the morning for free if we drove up there in our car.
In the morning we went into the main house, an old farm house for an English breakfast fry up with coffee's and juices etc, all beautiful and we were given the option of when breakfast was served to us also.
The website doesn't do the place or the rooms justice, it's a must visit! My only gripe is, and this might be down to the room we stayed in, is it's next to a main road, and it got very noisy in the morning even after their attempts to almost triple glaze the inside windows.
Do I recommend it? Yes! I'll be going back there when I go out in Derby, every time.

These converted animal sheds consist of 2 rooms each. A bedroom with ensuite and small lounge. Some of the suites have been modernised but we paid the same price ie £72 for one that had not been modernised. The owners are unbelievably friendly and helpful and the cooked breakfast was superb. I was a little disappointed that there was no where to sit out as we were by the river and the weather was glorious. It was also much noisier than I had imagined it would be. It was great having the pub, Crewe and Harpur opposite to relax in in the evening and have a drink without having to drive anywhere. It is also very convenienlty situated just of the motorway.

The choice of words here "Converted animal sheds" are not well chosen and not at all appropriate. "Stable conversions" would have been more accurate and less controversial.
Also, since this review, we have fully refurbished the apartment (bungalow) and built on two additional large executive suites (with double and secondary glazing for sound proofing)
