“An awesome place at the cradle of nature”
Reviewed 7 August 2018 for a stay in August 2018

A perfect place for the group 10 friends to spend the weekend away from there daily routine at the nature.

PROS:
1. Hospitality at its best. Owners were friendly
2. More than 2 km away from main road
3. Quiet and Calm place
4. Suitable for both family and friends
5. Rooms were clean and hygiene
6. Food was good
7. Barbecue and starters were fine
8. Dogs were friendly

CONS:
1. Signboard at the entrance of main road and at the junctions leading to homestay should be more visible
2. Other indoor amenities like some indoor games ( Carom, TT,etc) should have been included

Overall i am happy with the stay and would like to refer to friends as well.

“Crown of the Western Ghats”
Reviewed 16 June 2018 for a stay in June 2018

There are some homestays & there is this quaint place called "The Edge Stay". Approach is easy, All you have to do is follow their pin location. The drive from Sakleshpur is especially breathtaking through undulating winding roads surrounded in turns by Coffee Plantations & forests. Kind of a nice green overload. You are already in a happy space before you enter the property. Once past the gates, your thoughts will shift a gear to Euphoric on seeing the surroundings. In all probability the hosts Prashanth or Rachna or both will be there to greet you.

I was on a homestay hopping trip & hence landed there at about 2 in the afternoon on a Saturday at the end of a 5 hour drive from another homestay in South Coorg. Lunch was ready & served immediately on arrival. We were a group of 4 adults & 2 kids & a combo of herbivores & just 1 Carnivore, still there were 2 different meat dishes, the usual rice, roti, dal, 3 sabjis, unlimited papads....nothing usual about the flavours though. The portions were generous, wholesome & they were all good, but if I had to choose the best preparation, then it will have to be the Mushroom.

Ah! the mushroom. The mushrooms used in this dish are not available commercially anywhere in the cities. As a food processing professional, I know that this is not even among the top ten cultivars grown in India. This is an absolute wild edible variety that grows on the edges of The Edge Stay. Now its one thing to have access to some unique produce but its something else to be able to transform that into a memorable plate experience. Words cant do justice to pure sensory ecstasies. Lets us hope that you will be lucky enough to land there on those days when it is cultivated.

Then the night follows day & its time to explore spots to sit & have the peaceful drink. There are many spots to choose from in the midst of tranquil nature & chairs will appear on your chosen settlement. then the bonfire appears, then the barbecue appears.....all right next to where you have settled. Prashanth himself was our Barbeque master and I am not lightly using the word "master". The meats were succulent & veg starters were not heavy on oil. A late dinner then consisted of some locally sourced dam fish with enough options for the herbivores too.

Imagine a place with absolutely no light or sound & that is where I had my full complement of 8 hours of undisturbed dreamless slumber.

9am, time to head back to Bangalore....but not before breakfast. Aye, there were choices but after the customary taste of all items, my family zeroed in on & gorged on the idlis. The simple humble idli....brilliant. The only other places that make these kinds of white, soft, perfectly fermented idlis are around Tanjore district. Take this from a chap who has travelled hard, far & wide

Oh, almost forgot the coffee. You gets lots of this beverage as & when you need & its made from beans sourced from their own estates.

Last but certainly not the least, Prashanth's elderly father is an octogenarian. Talk to him when he is around to comprehend the true depths of hospitality.

PS: Looks like I have only harped on the food bit on my review above, but the fact that this is a cozy, beautiful place was overshadowed by the sheer hospitality & my own culinary experience.

“Amazing Experience”
Reviewed 16 February 2018 for a stay in February 2018

Booked this place while on my way to manipal from Bangalore ... wanted to give a break Journey.. and what an amazing break it was .. away from the normal chicmagalur homestays the edge stay gives u that homely feeling .. thanks to Prashant, Rachna, their lovely daughter and their amazing pets. The stay was very peaceful with only my family staying , the rooms were basic and clean . The food was ultimate, the place is spacious with lot of space and their huge farm land was a very good place to explore. It was a very nice day spent with bon fire at nite, you got everything u need. Thanks a lot for hosting us and everytime I drive down I am fir sure staying at the edge stay.
