“Superb experience!”

This attraction, from the hotel to the brewery tour deserves the high scores attributed so far.

Check-in was easy (as a hotel guest you have to turn through the large car-park then down to the small car-park accessed via a barrier which lifts on approach).

We had a splendid room, very tastefully furnished (I can't remember whether we booked a superior room, but what we had compared with 5-star). The brewery theme runs throughout, with glass display cabinets here and there showing artefacts from the brewing heritage of the adjacent brewery. The bed was ultra-comfy, the wi-fi worked fine (with a passcode), and the WC/shower area was very contemporary. A TV and workstation were also available. It was quiet, no traffic noise at all.

We arrived just in time to catch the last tour of the day, which lasts about an hour and allows visitors to see various parts of the brewing and bottling process. The guided tour of the brewery was included in the room booking (which we were unaware of) and complimentary drinks and nibbles are included by a voucher system and these are taken in the bar area at the end of the tour. The guide was lovely, in traditional costume.

We ate in the restaurant, and although it was more expensive that we are used to paying in Germany, given that there aren't really any alternatives in the area for hotel guests (unless you wish to drive a few Km), the prices could, in reality have been higher. We would have preferred what we would describe as more traditional German fayre, and the menu seems to appeal towards those seeking smaller portions of gourmet-style food, rather than to follow tradition. The beer, of course, was local!! What better...as a huge fan of Rothaus Weizen Bier anyway, than to sit drinking a large glass whilst looking directly at the place it was made.

Breakfast was excellent...everything one could expect, fresh, attractively presented and good quality coffee.

A definite thumbs up for Brauereigasthof Rothaus and the brewery tour.

We already knew Rothaus from a long time, but only the restaurant : this time, we stayed the night on May 8th, in the newly-renovated Gasthof (in April), and visited the brewery. Perfect mini-week end! The "comfort double-room" is amazing, the restaurant is "gemütlich", the food is excellent and the staff is very nice and very helpful. (Remember to book your table at the restaurant, just to avoid the disappointment of having to leave without having eaten delicious german food!)
The surroundings are beautiful in the Spring, there are lots of things to do nearby (think Shluchsee lake, etc). If you can, visit the brewery: it's free if you stay the night, otherwise 9 euros; the tour is in German only, but just seeing the inside of the brewery is wonderful if you've never seen one : very clean, modern, efficient! There is a path outside the brewery that you can follow and see inside, thanks for big windows, for instance the bottling-chain. Always interesting to look at!
If you are ever in the surrounding, please drop by ! Lots of parking space, lots of visitors all year round and all kind : families, couples, older people, bikers (wether motorbikes or regular bikes :), it's very friendly, and very relaxing.

Pretty cool place away from the major tourist towns, very quiet.
Good accommodations, good service, friendly front desk agent who checked us in.
Would have liked a king or queen bed but was never asked.
The room was nice but could have used some upgraded amenities and literature.
Be sure to check out the brewery and their self guided interpretive trail.
The restaurant could have some more vegetarian options.
Dinner the first night was great, female wait staff was very efficient, second time the waiter seemed preoccupied, too bad.

Superb location on a plateau of the Black Forest, near Rothaus brewery. Conditions are very good, great accommodation with spacious and nicely furnished room, great bathroom with adequate facilities. Good breakfast and outstanding house beer. For lovers of excursions staying for few days the hotel offers a free card which you can travel for free by bus or train in the region.
You can visit the beer factory that is impresive. The personel is helpful in any situation. I stongly recommend yhis hotel.
