The location is perfect for exploring Freiburg im Breisgau and the beautiful countryside around.  The hotel stands amongst beautiful meadows, which in May were ablaze with buttercups and wild flowers, with great views to the mountains of Schwarzwald. The rooms are very spacious, we had room 14 which included a kitchenette, discretly hidden from the bedroom, with hot plates, fridge, sink and all the utensils nessesary, even down to washing liquid and dishcloth which was great touch. A nice little dining table finished off this area.  There was a radio, huge flat screen with blu ray player. The hotel supplies DVDs if you want them.  There is also FREE wifi available.
The bed was comfortable and the linens were crisp and white. Our bed faced a huge picture window. It was great to open the shutters in the morning, pop back into bed with a coffee, take in the view and listen to the birdsong. I believe all of the front facing rooms have balconies with furniture. Generally the rooms are exceptionally spacious, light and airy with comfy chairs to sit about on and more than adequate furniture. The bathroom was again spacious with toilet, sink, hot towel rails and in room 14 a big corner bath with shower over.
Breakfast was perfect, continental with that great German twist of local cheeses, Eier, the delicious Schwarzwald speck, homemade fruit salad, delicious breads, the list could go on. Suffice to say it kept us going for the day!
The restaurant is great with a varied and sensibly priced menu. We had Dorada served with samphire, potatoes and baby tomatoes which was the best I have ever tasted. As the weather was fine we dined outside on the patio which stands at the edge of the beautiful meadow, perfect.
There is also a sauna available for guests use.
If you have children with you (we didn't) there is a little room at the back of the restaurant with toys galore. There is also a great little playground across the lane.
Just down from the hotel is a huge farm building where they sell local produce and you can wander around to see the farm animals and there's a fantastic adventure play ground, no charge just an honesty box.
All in all in my opinion this is an exceptional place. The peaceful hotel, the beautiful countryside, places to visit, walks, cuckoo clocks all make it a place that's hard to leave.
