Called today (Bank holiday Monday) to find that the same carvery gets a £3 price hike because of the date. So we decided to order from the menu, just two main courses, the restaurant was about one third full, after 45 mins the food arrived. The fish and chips was just ok but the gammon eggs, chips and peas was not a gammon steak but ham that had just been carved at the carvery, served with two over cooked fried eggs, frozen peas and frozen chips. Definitely not worth the cost.

Ordered 4 main courses but they'd run out of 3 of them. They told us one of the meals, a kids cheeseburger, was unavailable 20 minutes after we'd ordered it. We then ordered 2 apple crumbles and custard, another 25 minutes later the waiter came and told us that they didn't have any apple crumble but they did have sticky toffee pudding. At that point we have up and asked for a refund. Also the bottomless ice cream machine ran out of ice cream. We won't be going back.

I know to set my expectations when paying circa £5 for a Sunday lunch. However, after paying we were then told there were no roast potatoes, only 2 meat and very limited veg. Wouldn’t her minded if they told us when we were paying and we would just have gone elsewhere. The meal was truly the worst carvery I’ve ever had as it wasn’t even hot. The place is awful inside as well with ripped wallpaper and drawings on the wall. The staff also don’t seem to care or attempt to make best of the situation. It’s only a matter of time before they manage the run this into the ground and it closes. The abandoned sofa in the car park really topped off the experience!

Just been to Duke of wellington for a carvery. Will never go again. It was cold and the tinned veg was horrible. The potatoes were undercooked and the member of staff 'ragged' the meat to bits instead of carving it. Will not be going again ever.

The veg was absolutely disgusting, and considering i'm vegetarian it's pretty important. The roast potatoes were barely cooked and tasteless, the peas were undercooked and tasted of brine (tinned?) And the green beans were cold. The kids ate nothing but mash and lumpy gravy. My husband said the meat was nice, but a few slithers of beef don't really make up for £25 worth of crap veg. We complained to the miserable staff and weren't even offered so much as a discount let alone a refund or a replacement meal for at least the children. I really wouldn't bother. What a waste of a beautiful building and location.
