Grandest and biggest catholic church in the far east. This church is actually close to my heart. This is not just a simple structure nor a simple tourist spot. Within it , you can actually see the real sense of living. The solemnity and peaceful feeling inside it can definetly uplift and rejuvinate your feeling. This basilica symbolises the faith and beliefs of each and every taaleños. It is run by a very kind hearted priest's and staffs. The people inside this basilica are all nice and very accomodating. This basilica is one of the best place that I'd really like to be at everytime I need somewhere to go to.

Considered as the largest church in the Philippines and in Asia, the Basilica de St. St. Martin of Tours has become a pilgrimage site for Catholics in the Philippines. Located in the heart of Batangas Province, the basilica can easily be reached by bus.

The facade of the church boost a Spanish colonial design. Interior of the church takes you back in time. Although renovations is being undertaken when I visited the place, much of the old design have been kept to preserve the original look.

I don't understand why this basilica has not been listed sooner in TripAdvisor. This could very well be the best attraction of the town of Taal.

Visit this basilica anytime and be transported back to the Spanish colonial era. According to my research, this is the biggest/ grandest Catholic basilica in the Far East, and I believe so, too.

It's undergoing renovations as of the moment, but that doesn't diminish its grandeur one bit. If you are not claustrophobic nor afraid of heights, climb the belfry and savor the view of the town below and of Balayan Bay as you will be standing at the highest point of Taal.

Donations for the ongoing renovations are greatly appreciated by the basilica's staff.
