We've now stayed here twice. In March, on our way to the Costa del Sol, and again in May, on our way back to the UK. We cannot fault it. Our room, we were given the same one each time, is more than adequate for the two of us and our two dogs. It had a lovely balcony overlooking the garden and the swimming pool, which the dogs thoroughly enjoyed.

The first time we stayed we did bed & breakfast but, as there wasn't really anywhere to eat in the vicinity, ate in the hotel restaurant, which does a menu del Dias, but not at the weekend. Whilst the meal was delicious, the menu was limited. The second time we stayed we booked half board and, as it was mid week, had the menu del Dias which, for only an extra 11 euros per head, is not only well worth it but there was also an excellent choice.

The hotel is really lovely, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and it's located not too far from the motorway. Well worth the detour.

The village is absolutely lovely and, as with the hotel, extremely interesting. We'll definitely stay here again.

Lovely old building in authentic Spanish location with warm atmosphere. Great a la carte menu - we do not understand the criticism of the food in some of the reviews! Breakfast was varied and plentiful. A great hotel and we would certainly stay again.
Poor tv reception on most channels.

This hotel has serious problems with its air con system and in Extremadura, it can get very hot! First night we stayed, the air con made an annoying noise all night long even though it was switched off. We asked to fix it but they couldn't so they gave us another room. The air con worked well there for one night but on the second one, it totally broke down. Again, they couldn't fix it. In the very last night, they gave us another room-this time the air con was working perfectly. Moving to 3 rooms in 4 nights of stay was over the top!
The first 2 rooms were small and crowded-why would someone escape to Extremadura to enjoy the open spaces and have to put up with small hotel rooms you usually find in central Madrid (where space is in premium but in Extremadura?)
The deco was too modern for such a beautiful historic palace (they should learn something from the Paradores where they furnish the hotels/palaces with Spanish antiques) and the management should pay attention to the details which can really make the difference. There was hair in our first bathroom, a sofa in a hallway had a quite visible hole and the room's balcony wasn't very inviting really-haven't they ever heard of waterjet cleaning?
We didn't dine in the hotel's restaurant (none seemed to do) as the prices were out of this planet (Salamanca's prices in particular) while the breakfast had all the usual problems that many 4 star hotels seem to have nowadays: Lack of freshly made strong coffee (instead, you are asked to use a cofee vending machine as if you are in an office) and poor quality juices, pastries and fruits. I can't understand why there is so much emphasis on quantity-it would have been better if there was less variety but better quality. At the end of the day, why would you need 3 different juices and 4 different pastries when all of them are mediocre to bad? Better serve one orange juice and one croissant but make sure that they are the best you can afford!
By the way, the receptionists were great-very helpful although it was obvious that the management had let them down.
Just avoid.

We ate dinner there and the food was amazing! The town is sleepy with not many food choices but the landscape is beautiful with a few surrounding hikes. We only stayed one night, wished it had been more!

The hotel is located on a remarkably large but virtually deserted town square, so is very quiet. The old building is attractive and has been well renovated. The modern extensions and interior design are much less successful. The room condition was OK but very small, with furnishings reminiscent of the earlier IKEA period. Bathroom was clean and adequate. A balcony with table and chairs helped to prevent cabin fever. Free parking inside the walls is a bonus.

Although fixed price menu was (too?) cheap at 18 Euros, the quantities were very small and inadequate, especially meat. The a la carte options looked a better, more expensive choice. We could not find any alternative restaurants within walking distance.

Staff were mixed, with one receptionist becoming quite aggressive when demanding a 5 Euro cash deposit for a swimming pool towel - in a supposedly 4-star hotel!

A saving grace is that the town is very easy to get out of for visiting surrounding areas.

This hotel is in an ancient building with walls metres thick. It is within its own garden on the town's square, which is a quiet and attractive spot. The conversion to a modern hotel is very cleverly done. Ours was a compact but adequate bedroom, overlooking the garden and countryside beyond. Breakfast was very good. We enjoyed an evening drink in the garden, and found all the staff very friendly and obliging.
Free parking within the garden walls is a bonus.

Located on one of the most authentic squares of Spain this hotel is located within a striking historic building - an old palace of a nobleman. Our room is a bit outdated but came with a pleasant balcony with a relaxing view. Service in the restaurant is slow, we sat for 30 minutes before our drinks were served. The small village is not interesting and neither were the walks in the neighbourhood.
