My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay at this hotel. We went on an Amazon Local Deal which was for 2 nights bed and breakfast. We knew we could only check in between certain times and on arrival I knocked on the wrong door. It was answered straight away and we were ushered into the bar area to check in. We were then shown up to our room (Room 1), it was a pleasant room, very clean and the bathroom was immaculate. The shower cubicle was on the small side but worked fine. As others have said, there were lovely fluffy towels (which were changed each day) and toiletries. There was also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The room was cold, even when the heating was on, but we arrived amidst one of the worse storms in the UK and it was freezing out, so it could have been that. We asked if we could book in for an evening meal but, unfortunately, the chef was off due to a family crisis, but they gave us directions to a number of local eateries. The breakfast was huge and we both really enjoyed it. After we had been out for our evening meal we sat in the bar area for a while and had a drink. The owners and their son were all very pleasant. This is a grade 2 listed building so was quite quirky with lots of funny little stairs but that added to it's charm. We would stay here again if we were in the area.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Lord Nelson in Wellington, and although we thought it a bit strange that the Hotel is closed between 1.00 and 4.00 pm so we were told not to arrive in between those times as we would not get in! When we did arrive we were checked in very politely and shown to our rooms, which were very nice, clean, shower was rubbish, even the heater in the bathroom didn't work, but the bedroom was freezing cold. We had to ask for an electric heater, which was put in our room, but to be honest didn't give off any heat so we were no better off, we asked if the heating could be put on, but was told it was on a timer and they wouldn't turn it on outwith those times, it didn't come on on the first morning we stayed and it was unbearably cold, we went to Primark to buy a onesie, we were very uncomfortable for 2 nights of sleeping there, and it is a pity as the hotel was nice otherwise, we did have a meal at the hotel which was nice and the breakfast was lovely, but we would NEVER go back, on our 3rd night we stayed for £29.00 at a Premier Inn and it was luxurious compared to the Lord Nelson, comfortable warm room, great bed, and power shower, amazing

Room Tip: Dont go when the weather or season is cold

We to have just returned from a two night KGB stay, great value for money and we are certainly looking forward to going back. Brilliant place to stay for near Telford and Wellington is a really nice little centre. We had our meals there both nights and it was really good and reasonably priced. The owner and his son were really friendly. The room we had was really large and well furnished and warm.

Room Tip: We were in room nine, we had a really good nights sleep, the room was really quiet.

We have just returned from a 2 night KGB deal with friends at this hotel. Everyone was polite and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our room was newly decorated and the bedding was crisp and clean - the bathroom was immaculate and included toiletries. The white towels were soft and fluffy. Our deal included dinner on the first night and breakfast each morning, and there was nothing to complain about at all, everything was wonderful. Only a few minutes walk into the town and close to lots of interesting tourist attractions by car. Great hospitality and friendly atmosphere even though the hotel was not very busy. Would stay again if in the area.

Room Tip: Room 9 superb.

Myself and 2 girlfriends stayed here overnight as was closest hotel to the venue we were attending. After reading several comments we were unsure what to expect,
We didn't realise that we couldn't check in till 4pm that was the only downside but we went to the pub just up the top as we needed the toilets desperately after travelling.
On arrival to the car park I must say it looked a little Dim and uninviting and I did wonder if it was actually open for business, Maybe the owners may consider having some nice plant pots with winter plants outside the door at the back as I think this would help make a more inviting look and maybe a big notice saying check in from 4pm as we rang to find out. It may help others in future.
on arrival ok there was no reception and it was done at the small bar very quickly and friendly and we greeted by a few friendly locals so we instantly felt comfortable.
we were shown to our room, typical we 3 ladies always end up at the top, The room was very clean and beautiful crisp clean linen on the beds. The bathroom was well equipped with a good shower and complementary shower gel which you don't often get in cheaper hotels. The bathroom was spacious and the towels were lovely and soft.
We had a double and single bed. Tea and coffee and milk also. Tv was also good.
The only downside was never enough sockets we had to reach through the headboard on the double bed to put hairdryer and phone chargers in.
Also as we are ladies we could have done with a mirror on the wall with decent lighting over it as even bathroom lighting was a bit dim for us ladies.
We didn't decide on breakfast due to arriving back in at app. 5am but must say the dining room looked very nice as it was set out.
Overall the proprieters were very friendly and would definitely recommend this hotel. For people who complain this is not a 5 star so if that's what your wanting go somewhere else, but for a budget hotel it was definitely *A *star

Arrived at this hotel to find entrance door locked rang bell to get in. First impressions smelly and dingy.
No reception. Business undertaken at the bar. Rooms small and cold. My door frame had bern damaged and not repaired. Bedding very clean but bed uncomfortable and lumpy. Shower room freezing.
When I asked why were front doors locked at all times tbe responce was to stop people entering ......maybe I have it wrong but surely hotels welcome people..
Obviously not this one...
More like a hostel .

My partner & I have just enjoyed a weekend in this hotel. The staff were friendly, the food was good and the rooms clean. And it had a large private car park. Our only complaint was the lack of heating on our first morning, it was bitterly cold outside and almost as cold in our room!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 1, so only a few stairs up, the stairs were very steep, so i'm happy we weren...
