We have just returned from the same kgb deal as GerryP39 and couldn't fault the value for money.
We had a large room at the back of the hotel overlooking the car park. There was plenty of clothes storage, flat screen tv, tea tray and free wifi. There was a large clean shower room with plenty of hot water. The only problem for us was that the mattress was very soft.
Evening meal was selected at check in from a very limited menu but the food was well cooked and plentiful. A full English breakfast was provided in the morning which was excellent.
The hotel is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in a residential area five minutes walk from town.
There are plenty of restaurants locally and we can definately recommend the Royal Balti a couple of minutes walk away.

Room Tip: Room 9 at the rear of the hotel is large and quiet.

We stayed on a kgb deal of £89 for two nights bed and breakfast and evening meal on the first night. For that price it was more than adequate. You get what you pay for in this life, usually anyway, so if you come with that expectation you will be well satisfied. You cannot book in between 1 and 4, so plan for that. Access is easiest via the car park which is located in the rear, which is clearly signposted from Wellington Road. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Food is well cooked and of generous portions. You are asked to order as you arrive which is no big deal. All in all an enjoyable few days break.

We've just spent two nights at The Lord Nelson and had a great weekend. The hotel although small(ten rooms I think) provided good, cheap accommodation with comfy beds, clean bathrooms with wonderful fluffy white towels, and an excellent home cooked breakfast (the best I've had in a long time). The staff were friendly and helpful and efficient. There is a car park around the back down a little lane just about opposite the Park Pub which was nice and convenient for a pint (although there is a small bar at the hotel we didn't drink there as they were not available for dining in the evening). Ask directions to The Royal Balti which is not far and serves an excellent curry is a beautifully modern setting with great friendly service. Great place to stay and convenient for Ironbridge, plus a walk up The Wrekin is a must (takes about an hour of steady, but not difficult uphill walk for wonderful views - a very popular walk.

Room Tip: Friends stayed in room two, which has a separate shower room which was good as the bathrooms are ver...

Lord Nelson was easy to find and had its own car park - always a bonus . We went on a Group on deal for 2 nights with evening meal and breakfast . The food was very good with a reasonable choice . The rooms were clean and had TV , kettle and hair dryer .

Just returned from a night at this hotel. We went on a deal but could only get the one night as we had left it too late to book, that was enough.
Very friendly staff. We had a large, warm room, that was clean and very quiet. The ensuite had the usual and a shower that was adequate but the pressure was poor.
Our evening meal was fine, with a tasty lamb shank, it was a little strange selecting it as we arrived at 5pm when eating at 7pm.
Breakfast was fine, normal, nothing special.
Wellington itself was very sleepy on a Friday night but there were some lovely places to visit in the area.

My husband and I have just returned from a two night stay at this hotel. We went on an Amazon Local Deal which was for 2 nights bed and breakfast. We knew we could only check in between certain times and on arrival I knocked on the wrong door. It was answered straight away and we were ushered into the bar area to check in. We were then shown up to our room (Room 1), it was a pleasant room, very clean and the bathroom was immaculate. The shower cubicle was on the small side but worked fine. As others have said, there were lovely fluffy towels (which were changed each day) and toiletries. There was also tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The room was cold, even when the heating was on, but we arrived amidst one of the worse storms in the UK and it was freezing out, so it could have been that. We asked if we could book in for an evening meal but, unfortunately, the chef was off due to a family crisis, but they gave us directions to a number of local eateries. The breakfast was huge and we both really enjoyed it. After we had been out for our evening meal we sat in the bar area for a while and had a drink. The owners and their son were all very pleasant. This is a grade 2 listed building so was quite quirky with lots of funny little stairs but that added to it's charm. We would stay here again if we were in the area.

We have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Lord Nelson in Wellington, and although we thought it a bit strange that the Hotel is closed between 1.00 and 4.00 pm so we were told not to arrive in between those times as we would not get in! When we did arrive we were checked in very politely and shown to our rooms, which were very nice, clean, shower was rubbish, even the heater in the bathroom didn't work, but the bedroom was freezing cold. We had to ask for an electric heater, which was put in our room, but to be honest didn't give off any heat so we were no better off, we asked if the heating could be put on, but was told it was on a timer and they wouldn't turn it on outwith those times, it didn't come on on the first morning we stayed and it was unbearably cold, we went to Primark to buy a onesie, we were very uncomfortable for 2 nights of sleeping there, and it is a pity as the hotel was nice otherwise, we did have a meal at the hotel which was nice and the breakfast was lovely, but we would NEVER go back, on our 3rd night we stayed for £29.00 at a Premier Inn and it was luxurious compared to the Lord Nelson, comfortable warm room, great bed, and power shower, amazing

Room Tip: Dont go when the weather or season is cold
