A National Trust property and an example of a middle class family home. The house is modestly sized compared with some National trust properties. All the rooms are open to the public together with gardens, summer house, greenhouses and stables. Well worth a visit if nearby.

Really lovely house. Not the usual grandeur but beautiful and very interesting. Guides there were very informative. Lots of 'oh I remember that' for us!

A National Trust property which I have not visited before. Recommend allowing 3-4 hours for visit. As the title suggests, a property which is quite grande but on a much smaller scale than most Trust properties.Wonderful avenue of giant redwood trees leading up to the property. An Edwardian tea room with verandah overlooking croquet lawn, small rose garden and glasshouse, small allottment and don't forget the Daimler car in the garage.
Orchard/paddock area.
Interesting tour of the property last owned by Joan Lander...someone who went to embroidery college in London. Beautiful designs/patterns on display.
Small shop and plant sales.

Had a thoroughly interesting guided tour of this Victorian property, with a real insight into how the upper middle-class chose to live over many generations. Fantastic grounds too. Well worth a visit.

BNot as big and important as other NT properties this hows how a high middle class family lived during the beginning of the last century. It shows the life and works of Joan Lander.
