Nerin is a tiny remote hamlet in one of the most beautiful regions of the Pyrenees. Hotel Palazio is ostentatiously placed at the head of the valley so every room has a spectacular easterly view beyond the entrance to Anusclo Canyon and on to Bramapan. I had to sit on the balcony of our room with a cold beer for 30 minutes after arriving, watching raptors drift by, simply taking it all in. The hotel is quite modern, staff were friendly and welcoming and they are obviously used to hikers. The room was clean, beds comfortable and the prices very reasonable to boot. The exceptional thing here is the situation so the fact that we liked the hotel too was a bonus. There is a small swimming pool that must spend most of the year empty given the long winter at this altitude. We were not overly impressed with the food but it was not bad, especially when washed down with some very agreeable local wine. We were visiting out of season so I believe things may improve when the hotel is busy. The menu was different each night however and was priced fairly. It is the small things that make a difference: I foolishly left my favourite shirt in the wardrobe and they kindly sent it to my home within a couple of days. Would definitely visit again. Thanks for a lovely stay!

Room Tip: As far as I could tell, ALL rooms had a great view with a terrace or balcony.

Room Tip: Las habitaciones abuardillas tienen su encanto, con vistas a la zona del Cañon de Añisclo.
