“A place to rest”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

We decided to break our journey from Natal to Guateng and opted for Ikungu Lodge. It is well situated in the Drakensberg with lots to do in the area. We were treated to the Presidential Suite that included a balcony where we could sit and enjoy a glass of wine whilst admiring the scenery.

The lodge is a great place to relax and admire the wonderful views

There was a wide selection of food and wine with excellent service that was both professional and friendly. The staff were very helpful in arranging things to do and advice on local activities.

Room Tip: Although all the rooms are good keep your fingers crossed for an upgrade - we got a Presidential Exe...

We were there for a wedding at the beginning of March and it was really good we stayed in one of the self catering lodges which was very reasonably priced the wedding was very good and the staff were helpful and friendly, during the reception we were in the middle of a massive electric storm but there was ample shelter under the thatch roof

Room Tip: we were in the chalets and were good value for money

Our family recently booked a weekend to Inkungu Lodge, but due to an unforeseen family crisis, we were unable to take up our booking.
Having paid our deposit weeks earlier, we were concerned that we would forfeit our entire deposit, having cancelled 5 days prior to arrival.
Instead of taking advantage of our circumstance, the management kindly agreed to a full refund. A truly personal touch and one that we're very grateful for! Thank you guys.
We will definitely make another visit in the future.

We stayed at Inkungu over the long weekend in June. Although management was warm welcoming and accomodating, and the staff inexperienced were eager to please, the stay was below average. For the price you pay, akin to a proper five star establishment, attention to detail, cleanliness and overall mbience was below par. For instance there is no turn down facility and the showers in the midst of winter ran to lukewarm/cold very quickly. Warm bedding was inadequate. The food however was good and location beautiful

Room Tip: There are variety of rooms- the downstairs appear to be much smaller than the upstairs

This is a beautiful place with a wonderful view and excellent position, but very inexperienced management, the young lady who took our bookings and who was at reception at our arrival did not do justice to this place, long before we arrived we where already frustrated (as we could not find the place,) and wondering if we should book in, however, the lodge is wonderful, and the food outstanding, all staff including management needs lots of training,as they are obviesley VERY very inexperienced, its a great pity!!!

Stunning views, fantastic food, great staff. Beautiful rooms. This was our first visit to the Drakensberg. Inkungu Lodge is a great place for total chill out. Plenty to do if you want to go out and about or just chill by the pool and admire the views. Walk the great food portions off through thr local hills!!. Close to the Boys School. If you are in the Drakensberg you must stay here. Words cannot say enough!! Gods own creation. We will be back!!

Room Tip: all rooms are great. They all look out over the mountains. Down stairs open on to patio upstairs hav...

Stunning place with fantastic views of the Drakensberg. Felt very welcomed by both staff and owners, who took us to a private Biltong making masterclass! Food is absolutely delicious. Thanks so much for an unforgettable experience!
