Kathy was a great help. The rooms are so quaint. ;). Only thing, the room hasn't been cleaned, but It all worked out. Housekeeping came in and took care of everything. Kathy told us we could have another room. But we loved the one we had. The price is right & loved the mountains. ;).

This "hotel" is three guest rooms upstairs in the Pine Mountain Realty building. Each is furnished with interesting pieces and a touch of homey-ness, so it is more of an "inn". However, the other motel in town is already called "Pine Mountain Inn", and the Inn actually told me about the Hotel because they weren't willing to come down a few $ on their price to meet government travel rates. Otherwise, Pine Mountain Hotel would be hard to find out about because they don't advertise anywhere except for a link with pictures on the realty website.

One of the units has a separate room for the bedroom, and another room with a kitchen and living room. The other two units are large and have a couch, fake fireplace, table and chairs, and private small decks. We had 203. Everything in the room was nicely done, and we enjoyed it. The sheets, blankets and towels were very high quality. There were magazines, books, apples and other nice touches. The bed was a little soft, and some of the antique furniture could use some refinishing but that's a minor detail. The shower worked great, and the older TV had a lot of channels. There was no micro or fridge in the regular rooms. It was a frigid night, but the heat worked well and we used the fan in the room to circulate the heat to the couch area. A drawback in the summer would be no AC, and I think it does get hot there. Right outside the building is the general store which had some unit running really loud all of the time, so there would be a lot of noise if you left the door open on that side. On the other side of the room is sliding glass doors to the little deck - but use caution on the decks because the railings were rotting away. There was a ceiling fan.

The little town has several restaurants, the general store/liquor store with good selection, bar, coffee/cafes, hardware store, gas station all within a block or two. Most of the shops have outside eating areas with picnic tables. It was nice to walk around in the pines, with the view of the mountains in the background and the resort across the street. Note: I think you can use everything at the resort (pool, golf, tennis, etc.) when you stay at the hotel, but I'm not sure which place said that it was included with your stay.

Another note about the other motel, Pine Mountain Inn: I was willing to pay the extra $ to stay there based on the reviews, but when I called to make the reservation on a Monday night in early Dec, they said all the downstairs rooms were taken and they only had the upstairs rooms that are much more expensive. We walked by there that night, and there wasn't a single light on or any cars, so I find it hard to believe that all three downstairs rooms were booked.
